I think you see Norma Shearer everywhere all the time, that's what I think. But good on you for making the connection. While we are on the subject of this lovely (fellow Canadian) lady... Does anyone recall a story of her sitting poolside at The Beverly Hills Hotel with some/one/all/many of The New York Dolls? Am I imagining this? I have no idea where my Anita Loos autobiography is at the moment but I could swear she mentioned it in Kiss Hollywood Good-by (1974). Insert fabulous LP cover here to stay on-thread: No. I never heard that story. It's too bad none of us is experienced at sleuthing down internet rabbit holes. If only we had someone like that to call on. And...GO!

Insert fabulous LP cover here to stay on-thread: I'm not familiar with the story, galacticgirrrl, but I'm skeptical. Though Norma Shearer held poolside at The Beverly Hills Hotel for many years, she would've been seventy or more by that time and was looking fairly fragile. (The last photo of her ever snapped in public, which occurred during 1972 or shortly sometime thereafter to my knowledge, emphasizes my skepticism but I couldn't locate it for you.) In keeping with thread... "Cures you whisper make no sense Drift gently into mental illness" -

she would've been seventy or more by that time Uh, 70 isn't THAT old my friend!! ROTFL. Combine this with Michael & Shelley and not sure tis I drifting gently in to mental illness. <winkie eye> Speaking of which, The English Beat is to blame in part for my banishment from CA but it was well worth it. Not too much PTSD on hearing that song at all. I previously winced when ILM linked himself to the term old fart. Wrong. Although with tickets to The Last Dinner Party in my hands, one does worry at what age does it become inappropriate to sew ribbons to ones underpants and frolic about on the dance floor? Questions, questions, questions. Back to fabulous classic LP covers. Since Santa failed to bring me Bonanza: Christmas on the Ponderosa, I'll have to post another one.

WoW, galacticgirrrl, from the aforementioned to BONANZA: That's straying off the range!! Well, there's always next Christmas...unless, of course, you live in a Hallmark town which, in that case, expect it under your tree tomorrow morning.

No. I never heard that story. It's too bad none of us is experienced at sleuthing down internet rabbit holes. If only we had someone like that to call on. And...GO! My internet searching has gone down the drain of late. Instead of a digital rabbit hole, I had to finally go down into the analog basement last night to discover the mystery of one of the most frightening music videos I have ever seen. Constantly googling Alice in Wonderland with stretching doll and frightening rabbit was getting me nowhere. Damn. Why did I exile Anita Loos to the archives in the ice-palace at Varykino. I did not dream it. And if I haven't plugged the doc New York Doll yet, be sure to watch it. I have only had 3 spiritual awakenings in life and this was one of them. Back to LP covers... If you can't believe Joni's LP is 50, I can't believe this one is close behind. And like almost everything in life, it seems to have come about by accident. The lead guitarist/main songwriter broke his leg stealing another punk band's equipment. Whilst incapacitated, the band finally got around to going in their desired direction - et voila, a desert island disc for me - depending on the size of my hut and solar panels for the record player. Pink Flag - Wire (November 1977)

I feel like Pete Townshend here, hopelessly trying to come up with a response worthy of your intellect - go to about 21:59 and then listen, galacticgirrrl:

Since Santa failed to bring me Bonanza: Christmas on the Ponderosa, I'll have to post another one. Consider this a stocking stuffer until Santa comes to his senses next year, a nod to Lorne Green's "Ringo".

Consider this a stocking stuffer until Santa comes to his senses next year, a nod to Lorne Green's "Ringo". ROTFL!!! hOLy smokes. Another mic drop. This thread really should have been closed after The White Album cover. And now this gem. I am just thankful you are cluttering up your own album art thread and it isn't just the hoodlums and ruffians amongst us doing it. THAT is priceless. Why I am so lacking in the hilarity department? Must be the cold weather. I didn't think it could get any better than Elva Ruby. I can only offer this sweet little nugget in reply. Clearly John is at a disadvantage out in front, not privy to all the shenanigans going on behind him. The Beatles - Help!

Neil was one of the great voices of his era and one of the great songwriters. This guy too. I want this sweater so bad.

Roy's voice was at its absolute peak when he cut that album.
Some of the tracks are little-known gems.
Here's one.

Here's some missed opportunities for Norma. The Kinks cover is so you, I Love Melvin: a staggering knowledge of film and playful nostalgia art!

Uh, 70 isn't THAT old my friend!! ROTFL. Yes, galacticgirrrl, describing a seventy-year-old Norma Shearer as fragile looking should've sufficed... This fellow Canadian of yours would take exception to my ageist misstep:

You can absolutely hear echoes of Patsy Cline and Owen Bradley. In Dreams is my favorite Orbison song. Speaking of which, I've just got to post this one with Patsy in her gold boots. You earned them, Patsy.

I feel like Pete Townshend here, hopelessly trying to come up with a response worthy of your intellect - go to about 21:59 and then listen Your love of Pete Townshend is proving very helpful. His little credit card wobble took me off track. Now whenever I see an interview of him popping up in my YouTube algorithm, I stop in for a listen. I hesitate to mention one I really love because he peeped behind the Woodstock wizard's curtain which you said was a pivotal moment for you. But it is a great interview - Shelley Winters of all people is there - talking about the punk rock movie she intends to make. I appreciate the neural diversity here because I can't hold a candle to you or Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend but I am trying. This movie soundtrack reminds me of my twin best friends' brother - a HUGE Who fan who happened to look like Jimmy. The attacks on Heather are unbelievably heartbreaking. A very à propos post on International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Will we never be set free from hatred and fear?
