Which one is better? The original 1936 version was directed by Dorothy Arzner and features Rosalind Russell as the title character. In 1950, Columbia Pictures remade the story with Joan Crawford, under a slightly different title.

My opinion-- but I think the remake also works better because Wendell Corey is good at playing saps who are dominated by strong women. I don't exactly buy John Boles, whom I associate more with musicals and romances, as the disregarded husband in the original.
