Last night I went to a performance of Ohio State Murders at the James Earl Jones Theater. Although there are four actors, the play is basically a one-woman show, with Audra McDonald playing the lead. It was the Broadway premiere for Adrienne Kennedy, now 91. Her work has been called surrealistic and experimental, and so has been presented over the years in smaller houses and at universities. The play, written in 1991, concerns the early life of a Black female writer, particularly the murder of her twins by the White professor who fathered them. It's a short play (75 minutes) but powerful, shocking, and well acted. variety.com/2022/legit/reviews/ohio-state-murders-review-audra-mcdonald-broadway-1235454379/
