Noticed that The Majestic (2001) is on tomorrow, 10/26. Snipping from the TCM Forum's Premieres thread:
This is one of the very few Jim Carey movies that I've truly enjoyed. Only chose it because of Martin Landau. Capra sappy, but I loved it.

I would like to call attention to some special programming coming up on TCM this Friday evening, the day after Thanksgiving. The primetime theme on Nov. 25th is a salute to the 70th anniversary of the ultra-widescreen Cinerama format, and the first film at 8 pm ET is The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm (1962). Although this film has been shown on TCM before, I believe this will be TCM’s premiere of a newly restored version. Warner released the restored version on blu-ray earlier this year. Detailed information is available at: www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Wonderful-World-of-the-Brothers-Grimm-Blu-ray/134981/Based on the screen shots, this is a beautiful restoration and is an amazing improvement over the version of the film previously shown on TCM. Following The Brothers Grimm at 10:30 pm ET is the TCM premiere of the documentary Rescuing a Fantasy Classic (2021), which explains the work that went into restoring the film. The evening wraps up with another showing of perhaps the best-known Cinerama film, How the West was Won (1962) at 11:15 pm.

I'm really looking forward to the Max Steiner documentary as his name appears on (kidding) every other movie from 1930s-1950s as the music director, composer or something similar (in England, his doppelgänger is Muir Mathieson). Max's scores are not shy.

Glad to see the Claude Rains Technicolor version of PHANTOM on the schedule after all these years. But it should have premiered in October.

Glad to see the Claude Rains Technicolor version of PHANTOM on the schedule after all these years. But it should have premiered in October. I just noticed a TCM promotion for an upcoming Julien’s auction where an included item is an Academy Award given to W. Howard Greene for color cinematography in Phantom of the Opera (1943). The auction tie-in is possibly why TCM is showing the movie now. As an aside, I’m surprised that an Academy Award can be auctioned in this manner, as I thought the Academy had strict rules about their sale, but perhaps there is some type of loophole for this one.

Yes...I don't think they can sell an Oscar for profit...the Academy has to be given first chance to buy it back. But maybe in this case the Academy is letting it be sold for charity.

Sure wish I'd checked here and saw the Brothers Grimm restore & doc were to be shown. Dang, missed it, but they're likely to show it again. At least this month I have the heads up on the Max Steiner doc. Wish this thread was in the General Discussions (aka Classic Films here) like on TCM, but can see why it's not. I think I can learn to adapt.

PER WIKIPEDIA: Prior to 1950, Oscar statuettes were (and remain) the property of the recipient.
Since then the statuettes have been legally encumbered by the requirement that the statuette be first offered for sale back to the Academy for US$1. If a winner refuses to agree to this stipulation, then the Academy keeps the statuette.

It seems we are all adjusting to some new ways of organizing things. Hopefully it will become 2nd nature to us.
