OK. But I thought your stating "alert" me to the tune amusing. So, thanks for the "warning". Sepiatone

Been a fan of Dave Stryker for over 2 decades. He play jazz with grit, and a blues approach.

I never heard of him until about three years ago. Seems I missed a lot of good stuff.

How many strings do we feel is reasonable or needed or ideal on a bass guitar? I hadn't given it much thought until I went to see Michel Pagliaro recently. All was fine and dandy until his talented and gorgeous bass player Caroline Cameron swapped out her Ernie Ball Sterling for a 5 string. I don't know what it was or what song they played. I almost went into a panic over the heart arrhythmia it caused. Here is a snap of the guilty party I wonder if I would have survived this one live or if a defibrillator would have been required? With regards to how many strings a bass should have: It doesn't make any difference. I.e. a solid player will be solid regardless.
Of course if they switch from a traditional 4 string bass to one with more strings it will take some time to get use to, as well as develop the potential of what extra string can do (e.g. playing riffs in a lower octave).

Whoa. Korn almost took me down - even with very limited sub par laptop speakers. I of course was somewhat jesting about how many strings were ideal.
Do we know of any true bass guitar players? Not on bass by default/falling on their sword due to plethora of guitarists? (Which reminds me: the BJM just brawled and broke up on stage, yes again)
Great clip w/southpaw on bass and very famous bass player on guitar

Meanwhile, back on the instrument that first brought Noel Redding international level recognition, er, wait - before listening you have to promise me you won't allow the Hendrix/Redding excursion here to send you off somewhere for another long spell, galacticgirrrl:

Oops. I couldn't wait. I listened first THEN put my head down on my SOFT PILLOW. Is that what was uttered on Woodstock II? I only hear chatter about soldier songs, microphone mix ups, delays, first rays....
Another great bass guitar moment (someone in the comments tries to give Alvin credit for advancing and/or inventing the mullet! I must call unfair/foul!)
This appears to be live off the floor kids. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.

All hail the troubadours
When she was 16, she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle, suffering a double concussion that affected the way she heard sounds. She described it as hearing ambient sounds continuously and "...the sounds would alter their sonic vocabulary until I was hearing syllables, and drums. And then all these words would come". She's stated that hearing "pieces of songs" in her mind compelled her to take the pieces apart and craft songs from them. She doesn't remember writing her early songs—that "they wrote her".
