What are your favorite Christmas tv episodes?
1. The Andy Griffith Show -- Christmas Story (1960) Bah-humbugger old Ben Weaver is alone for Christmas. He causes trouble so he can be included in the festivities at the jail with Andy and the gang.
2. Happy Days (1974) Guess Who's Coming to Christmas. Similar to the one above. The Cunninghams find out that Fonzie is going to be alone on Christmas.
3. The Honeymooners (1955) -- Twas the Night Before Christmas --- A Gift of the Magi premise, Ralph sells his bowling ball to get Alice a gift.

1. Big Brother Jake - I'll Be Sick for Christmas
When I think of Christmas episodes, this one always comes to mind! Jake is the big, foster brother to a group of mischievous foster kids. Jake and the gang plan to spend Christmas on a cruise ship, but everyone gets the flu and is unable to travel. Unfortunately, all of their Christmas Presents have been shipped ahead to their destination and there's no way to get them back in time for Christmas. Jake wants Christmas to be extra special for the youngest orphan, who is about 4 or 5. Jake's best friend, Gary, saves the day by buying presents at the local gas station, the only place open on Christmas Eve. Hilarity ensues as the kids get paper napkins, straws and Sterno as gifts.
2. Bewitched - A Vision of Sugar Plums
I love this episode, especially the colorized version. Samantha Stephens, a witch married to a mortal, takes a boy who doesn't believe in Santa to the North Pole.

I'm not familiar with Big Brother Jake but I remember that Bewitched episode. That's a memorable Xmas episode with Cecil Kellaway nicely cast as Santa Claus.

Big Brother Jake aired on The Family Channel (now Freeform) from 1990-1994. It's not on DVD, but there are some episodes on YouTube.

Little House on the Prairie --Christmas at Plum Creek (1974) Another Gift of the Magi inspired one, Laura makes a sacrifice to buy little Caroline a special Christmas gift. Pa takes on an extra job to make money for Christmas, Carrie has a penny saved and buys a present for baby Jesus (awwww). Wholesome prairie Christmas.

THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW had an episode called "The Christmas Story" which aired in 1960 which had the combination Scrooge and Grinch Ben Weaver become an actual human being. It's a pretty heartwarming episode that forwards the message in the power of Christmas.

On the list of GREAT TV Christmas episodes, there is always Twilight Zone's "Night of the Meek", with Art Carney as the department-store-Santa wino fired on Christmas Eve: (Every time the background music plays that tinkly celeste "First Noel", it's cause for annual melting... )

Wonderful ending that gets me every time.

Just watched this one recently, The Bob Newhart Show. Not sure the year but early in their run, Bob & Emily plan on having a quiet Xmas Eve at home but end up inviting his patients over for a less than festive party.

There was an episode of Family Ties where Michael J. Fox played a scrooge-like character with dreams about Christmas past and future. He wakes up and goes to the only place open, the 7-Eleven, and buys gifts for everyone. Very funny.
My favorite is the Andy Griffith one mentioned. I always tear up a little when lonely Mr. Weaver is looking in through the jail window with longing.
