Is what permanent? Warner won't be 100 for probably more than a year.

Warner Bros. will celebrate its centenary on 4 April 2023. They are doing a year-long celebration. They have launched a site at www.wb100.com/

So does Warner's coming to the fore in this big way mean anything for the brand of Turner Classic Movies? Ted Turner is only a faint memory at this point and his name is probably only still there out of sentiment. Is it on the chopping block?

I really hope it's nothing more than TCM, which is owned by WB, marketing the centennial of the studio. I know at the upcoming TCM Film Festival they're showing various restored WB films like Casablanca and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931). I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I don't want anymore rebranding or consolidation. TCM has undergone enough changes since Robert's passing and I fear any additional changes will continue to be for the worst.

I am having epic fail on these threads trying to quote only part of a post or trying to type a reply to a post I"ve quoted. if someone smarter than me (everybody) knows how to do these things, please let me know. So, there will be no quote of the above post, but ... my understanding is Jekyll & Hyde was a Paramount release. I"m not disputing that it's a WB property NOW. It airs frequently enough on TCM that this is probably the case. Same with A Farewell to Arms.

It airs frequently enough on TCM that this is probably the case. Same with A Farewell to Arms. To quote a part of a post, I click the quote button and it opens a page with the "Create Post" box at the top. In the "bubble" at the top will be what you have quoted. I delete the parts of the quote I don't need, or if I am feeling lazy just leave the entire quote. Under the "bubble" you can write your post. Does that make sense? Here's a picture: Regarding Jekyll & Hyde, when MGM decided to remake it in 1941, the studio purchased the negatives and the rights to both the 1931 and the 1920 silent version from Paramount. So MGM owns all three, and WB considers it their own. I like that WAC works in MGM and RKO restorations with as much dedication as their own catalog. To be honest, I'd rather have Warner Brothers celebrate MGM films as part of their 100th anniversary than leave it to Amazon to celebrate it in 2024. Can you imagine what that would be like? The 100th anniversary promotion includes lots of MGM films, but completely left out James Cagney or Bette Davis. There were too many superhero movies featured, but I am definitely not the audience they are trying to reach.

I am having epic fail on these threads trying to quote only part of a post or trying to type a reply to a post I"ve quoted. If you're having the same trouble I had, you can't get your cursor out of the quote box once you go into it to delete the immaterial portions. I workaround that by keying my reply first, then editing the quote.

Yep, I am completely unable to get my cursor out of the quote box. I'm going to try this again, following the rest of your advice.

I"m not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but I remember watching a short YouTube video about a WB anniversary box set of DVDs. And the host was flipping through the accompanying coffee table book, and it was all like 2001, Singin' in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, etc., etc., and I was like .... yeah, not what I think of when you call it a Warner Bros. box set! Though I suppose, technically.
