I wish I’d known it was Dick’s birthday on Wednesday. We were planning to watch his very entertaining Christmas movie Fitzwilly sometime in the next week, and it would have been a little more fun to watch it on his birthday. Oh well, we’ll be watching it anyway, and maybe next year we can do it on his s birthday.

Dick's exceptional tv-movie The Morning After is on youtube. he gives a great performance as a businessman with a wife and two kids who descends into alcoholism. his wife is played most ably by Lynn Carlin.

I remember that one. A lot of write-up about it in the TV books at the time. Both Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore were revealed to be heavy drinkers during the filmings of many "Dick Van Dyke Show" episodes. Maybe why he's lived so long(so far). All that pickling.  Sepiatone |
