Probably unauthorized but here in our little dark web world, we're outlaws anyway.

Such a wonderful monology. That is a movie I still need to see, I have only seen tiny samples... Only 222MB as downloaded just now though on YT. Perhaps a higher resolution version exists on ok.ru - I am looking for something at least around 1.5GB or so. First world problem.

People who love this, and there seem to be many, are seeing more in it than I ever have but it's worth the time. I look at it as the longest punch-line set up ever.
André does make one very prescient prediction about the lengths some would eventually go to in order to be "affected by something."
Yes, for a first screening, look for a sharper picture.

Just a follow-up. My first impression is that of something special. Thank you for my super-secret helper who sent me a HD version of this (someone who has attained the status of having my real email I use on these here forums). I intend to watch this 2-3 more times, just to more fully absorb it.
P.S. just use IMDB to look at how many other "My Dinner With ***** movies there are out there, since 1981.

I'm glad you enjoy it but do you really think there is all that much to absorb? I've never subjected it to any content analysis. There may be more than I caught. I will be interested in what you find. I found Wally's line a great summation when he said something like, I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

The characters and aesthetic were the extent of it for me. Wally coming into a ritzy establishment and feeling out of place, Andre's stream-of-consciousness thoughts, the stuffy old waiter (even he seemed confused), their complete loss of time.
The movie critic types may have been frustrated that they couldn't tick off more boxes to make it conform to something.

The critics loved it. Ebert especially. He had a similar observation to yours. He said it isn't so much what is being said as much as the general tone.
