Daytime and Primetime January 16 It's MLK Day, and we've got 24 hours straight of African-American-oriented films. There are documentaries about Oscar Michaeux and Gordon Parks that I don't think I will list, also not a '90s doc about the drive to get blacks to vote in Mississippi in the early '60s. Generally, I don't list documentaries. Although, yes, I just included a doc about Fellini, but only because it was the only entry for TCM Imports, not because I thought a doc about an Italian director was more important. I believe one of the features was that TCM rarity, a made-for-TV movie. One of the primetime movies is still unannounced.
Within Our Gates (Evelyn Preer, Flo Clements) (Michaeux Book & Film Co., 1920) The Emperor Jones (Paul Robeson, Dudley Digges) (United Artists, 1933) The Blood of Jesus (Catherine Caviness, Spencer Williams) (Sack Amusement Enterprises, 1941) Bright Road (Dorothy Dandridge, Philip Hepburn) (MGM, 1953) In the Heat of the Night (Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger) (United Artists, 1967) The Learning Tree (Kyle Evans, Alex Clarke) (Warner Bros., 1969) Sounder (Cicely Tyson, Paul Winfield) (20th Century Fox, 1972) The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (Cicely Tyson, Eric Brown) (CBS, 1974) Cooley High (Glynn Turman, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) (AIP, 1975) Bless Their Little Hearts (Nate Hardman, Kaycee Moore) (No production or distribution credits listed. It was an extremely low-budget indie, I'm guessing. Released in 1984)

Anita Louise is featured in both "Anthony Adverse" and "First Lady." She has a January birthday. Probably the reason for those airings. I didn't catch that. Thanks!

Primetime January 18 Night Three of the Month-Long Theme of Car Chases
First, a retraction and a clarification. I"ve divided chronicling this month between the old and new message boards. I reported on Night One of the theme (January 4) on the old boards, and by the time I got around to Night Two (January 11) on the new boards, I'd forgotten it was a continuing theme. I think I even made a comment like, "Gee, TCM is devoting a night to car chases, and there's no Bulitt?" Bulitt, of course, is the very first movie shown on Night One. My bad.
Speedy (Harold Lloyd, Ann Christy) (Paramount, 1928) It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (Spencer Tracy, Milton Berle) (United Artists, 1963)
Late Night The Adventures of a Rookie (Wally Brown, Alan Carney) (RKO, 1943)
