120 Teacher of Guilt Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
It is the next morning. Ryan learns that when Schuyler didn’t come home last night, Schuyler went out cruising and had sex with some random guy which he regrets doing. Ryan thinks they need a break from each other, and Schuyler reluctantly agrees. Schuyler moves out and takes a room at the hotel next to Birdie.
When Birdie finds out why Schuyler’s staying at the hotel, she offers to speak to Ryan. But Schuyler admits he made a blunder and that he and Ryan probably need some time apart. Birdie describes how she broke up with Dolph Mobley, after learning from Adrian and Dieter how she had been deceived. Yet she still has feelings for Dolph.
Later when she and Schuyler go down to the bar for a drink, Birdie sees another woman flirting with Dolph and fights feelings of jealousy. Dieter happens upon this scene, and he sits down next to Birdie and Schuyler. But Birdie’s too distracted by what’s going on with Dolph to pay much attention to Dieter.
The next morning Ryan shows up at the precinct and he’s in a bad mood. When Amanda chats with him, he says he and Schuyler split up again. But he isn’t sure if it’s permanent, since every time they break up they end up getting back together.
Jude comes in and is also in a foul mood. He admits he and Sonja have had an argument about what to name the baby. He’d like to use an old-fashioned family name Sonja dislikes. This conversation is interrupted when a dispatcher says Sister Agnes left an urgent message for someone to come by the church. Amanda wonders if it is about Bradley again.
Jude is heading over to the church to talk to Adrian about something, and he will head over there. Amanda’s a bit relieved she’s not going over there, since she isn’t sure anything she says gets through to Bradley, if in fact this situation involves him.
We cut to Jude arriving at the church/school office a short time later. Agnes meets him and says Adrian is away today on a retreat. He asks what she called the precinct about earlier. They sit down, and Agnes explains how two unruly students have said they are afraid for their life around a certain teacher named Patrick O’Brien.
Mr. O’Brien came to the Holy Name School highly recommended. It’s his first year here, but he had five years experience at a public school in Iowa. He has exhibited no outward behaviors that would suggest he’s dangerous, but the boys are scared to death of him.
Jude decides to go down to the classroom and visit O’Brien, since the bell just rang and O’Brien has prep time now. O’Brien seems very nice, and he knows Jude’s wife Sonja because the coffee shop she runs is not far from his favorite bookstore. Nothing suspicious comes up in their conversation, and Jude leaves.
The next day, Jude gets a call from the parents of one of the boys Sister Agnes mentioned. His name is Wyatt Oliver, and he is eleven. He says when he was on his way home yesterday after school, Mr. O’Brien picked him up and took him to a motel room. Jude goes back to the school, and Sister Agnes pulls Mr. O’Brien out of the classroom.
In the next scene O’Brien says he did drive through that neighborhood yesterday and he did see Wyatt and his friend, Bradley Conrad, on the sidewalk with their skateboards but he kept driving.
A wider investigation is conducted, and we see Jude getting in touch with O’Brien’s former employers in Iowa. Mr. O’Brien was an exemplary teacher and they did not want him to leave.
Jude also checks out the motel where Wyatt says Patrick took him (it’s the one run by Sugar). Sugar says she doesn’t rent rooms to men with boys, and there is no record of them having been there. Meanwhile, Mr. O’Brien has been placed on a paid leave, but Jude quickly determines that Wyatt is lying. Mr. O’Brien did not stop his car and pick up Wyatt.
A month later, Mr. O’Brien has returned to teaching and Wyatt has gone to a nearby public school. Bradley still sees Wyatt on occasion, though Bradley now hangs out more with Damian Deveraux.
Sister Agnes has heard from the other principal that Wyatt is causing trouble in his new school. That night, an African American public school teacher named Rick Bryant is shot and killed by Wyatt Oliver. The press misreports the teacher as being Patrick O’Brien, since the names are similar and he was the boy’s previous teacher when earlier accusations had been made.
At a press conference, Jude clears up the confusion and restores Mr. O’Brien’s credibility. Jude heads to the precinct. Wyatt is there with his parents. He is asked why he killed Mr. Bryant. Wyatt says it’s because he was not as good a teacher as Mr. O’Brien. He had fun in Mr. O’Brien’s class back at Holy Name.

121 Bradley Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
Damian Deveraux (first seen in ‘Troubled Souls’) doesn’t think he needs school to succeed in life. Sister Agnes is afraid of the impression his bad example makes on kids like Bradley Conrad. Though Bradley hasn’t joined a gang, he’s been skipping school and spending all his time on the weekends with Damian.
This Saturday Bradley’s supposed to meet Damian at the park, but he doesn’t show up. So Damian goes to where Bradley lives with his mother Trish in a run-down section eight apartment. Bradley’s not home, Trish invites Damian inside and tells him he can wait here for awhile. Trish is sort of out of it. It’s clear she’s high on something.
We cut to Bradley and learn that on his way to the park, Amanda was driving by in the squad car and had intercepted him. This is because she’s been keeping an eye on him, after recent conversations with Sister Agnes. At first Bradley thinks he’s in trouble and Amanda doesn’t tell him otherwise. She just tells him to hop into the car. He does, and they drive off.
Back at the apartment, Damian is looking around to see if there’s anything in the place to steal. Trish is so far gone, she wouldn’t even know if he took stuff. Trish is pouring herself a drink and is wearing something skimpy, since the weather’s already warming up and the fans aren’t working properly. She asks Damian how old he is. He says that he recently turned sixteen. Is Trish eyeing him seductively?
We go to Amanda and Bradley. We learn she took him to a bowling alley. This is where Jude and Ryan are practicing for an upcoming tournament against bowlers from another precinct. Bradley is in awe of Jude and Ryan and says that he might just become a police officer one day himself.
Amanda gets a ball and shoes for Bradley to put on. He admits he’s never bowled before. But he’s a quick learner and soon he’s getting a bunch of strikes. He’s really having fun, and so is Amanda though she keeps getting splits.
Amanda steps off at one point to call Trish Conrad, whose number she got from Agnes. She wants to tell Trish that Bradley’s okay and with her, but Trish isn’t picking up. We show Trish is in bed with Damian. He’s been with girls, but never a woman like this. Trish passes out from the drugs and booze she’s taken after they’ve finished the sexual act.
Damian can’t get Trish to wake up and panics. He puts his clothes on and hurries off. A short time later Amanda’s bringing Bradley home. They go inside, because Amanda wants to talk to Trish. They find Trish in an unconscious state in the bedroom. Amanda administers CPR while Bradley calls for paramedics. Bradley notices a belt buckle on the floor.
In the next part the paramedics have arrived and load Trish into the ambulance. Bradley is very emotional. He is not allowed to ride inside the ambulance, and he rides with Amanda to the hospital.
At the hospital Trish has been revived but she’s in no condition to talk to anyone, especially Bradley who’s been taken into the chapel by Adrian who just happened to be there passing out communion. Bradley is still highly emotional as Adrian counsels him.
Out in the hall, Jude’s arrived. He is brought up to speed on what’s happened. Amanda is eager to speak to Trish, but Jude thinks she’s too close to the situation and should wait till tomorrow. He goes into Trish’s room to see if she can give him some basic information.
Trish just vaguely says someone was in the house, and says that person raped her. She doesn’t say who it was, since she may not even fully remember as she was so out of it. Back in the chapel, Adrian’s had to continue rounds delivering communion. Bradley’s in the chapel by himself. He pulls something out of his jacket pocket. It’s the belt buckle he felt on the bedroom floor back at the house earlier. He knows it belongs to Damian.
In the next scene Bradley calls Damian who picks up. Damian coolly asks where Bradley’s been all day, says he was looking for him earlier. Bradley says his mom’s in the hospital, and that Damian had something to do with it. Damian says he’s crazy. Bradley tells Damian he’s a loser and hangs up on him.
Bradley then exits the chapel and finds Amanda. He gives her the belt buckle and says it belongs to Damian Deveraux. Jude is now exiting the room where Trish is recovering. He sees the buckle and learns that Damian may have been the one who raped Trish.
Later Jude’s gone to the Deveraux home, but the parents aren’t there, just a younger sister named Dahlia. Jude is looking for Damian. Damian’s in his room and hears the police are here. He climbs out a window and takes off. Jude goes after him and nabs him a few blocks away, cuffs him and reads him his rights and puts him into the squad car. They drive to the precinct.
The next morning Amanda’s at the hospital again visiting with Trish. She tells Trish that Damian was apprehended and is facing charges. But Damian is denying he raped Mrs. Conrad. It is said that Trish’s estranged husband Gary is a trucker and on the road in another part of the country. Trish figures Gary will find out what’s happened.
Trish tells Amanda she desperately wants to get clean and stay clean to hold on to Bradley. She asks Amanda to be a character reference for her. Amanda needs to think about it.
We reveal that the women had known each other in college years earlier, and that when Amanda had become pregnant and was briefly married in college, Trish was her bridesmaid. After Amanda’s marriage fell apart and she had Bradley, she gave Bradley to Trish and Gary to raise, since they were also newlyweds and seemed to have a good marriage and happy home.
Amanda wonders where it all went wrong for Trish, and she worries about whether or not Bradley should remain in an environment where Trish is so unstable.

122 Fools Always Get Hurt Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
Saul Feinstein and his wife Meta are out of towners who have come to Chicago to visit their daughter Carol who just started a new job here. They tell their daughter how much her old boyfriend back in Jersey misses her, but Carol says she heard he was engaged to be married. Meta says engagements can be broken.
Saul is anxious to go see a Cubs game, and when they meet Carol’s boss, the very shy and unmarried Edmund Chapman, Edmund agrees to take them all to a game the next day (Saturday) to score points with Carol whom he has an obvious crush on. Edmund’s family has season passes and they don’t use them very often.
The next day we see them all in Edmund’s nice car, which they have trouble parking near Wrigley Field. Saul tries to help and gets into an altercation with another driver who stole the spot they wanted. Edmund is getting flustered and offers to drop them off at the gate and drive around until he can find something. But Saul insists on handling this the Jersey way. Before long, Saul has gotten out of the car and attacked the other driver, a very dangerous looking Russian named Yuri Okulov.
The Russian pulls out a knife and stabs Saul. Meta rushes from the car to see if Saul is okay, but he’s obviously not. When she sees her husband is wounded she jumps on Yuri’s back. He throws her down and into the backseat of his car. At this point, people are calling the police, while Yuri takes off with Meta.
At the precinct later, Carol and Edmund give statements and Jude tells Carol they will get her mother back. We see Meta on the road with Yuri. He’s heading to Wisconsin then up to Canada.
Yuri has Meta tied and gagged. They stop for the night at a motel. With the same knife that wounded her husband being pressed against her ribs, she has the ropes off. Next Meta is being forced to pretend she’s Yuri's wife while he gets a room from the desk clerk.
The clerk, a suspicious overweight man named Skaggs, tells his wife Audrey to keep an eye on those two while he gets the sheriff out of bed.
Meanwhile, in their room, Meta has gotten over her fear and decided she likes Yuri. She admits Saul was a fool back in Chicago and deserved to be stabbed. Yuri says he gave up stabbing people for Lent and now he has to start over. Meta reminds him he can start by not harming her and letting her go. She feels sorry for him.
When the local sheriff arrives, he is attacked because Yuri panics and stabs him. The sheriff has been fatally pierced in the heart and dies a short time later. Yuri realizes what he’s done. He does not want to go back to jail. He forces Meta into the car and they take off again.
In Chicago we see Edmund and Carol with Saul at the hospital. He is in intensive care and asks for Meta. Jude then comes in and says he received a report that Meta was able to reason with Yuri near the Canadian border. He let her go and then fled but was shot and killed. Meta is on her way back.
The last scene has all of them going to another ballgame. This time, someone sits in Saul’s seat. They compare tickets, and Saul is about to lose his cool again. The other person realizes he’s in the wrong and apologizes and moves over a seat. Everyone sits down and the game begins. The other person in the seat next to Saul is Jude.

123 Jim and Nathan Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
Jude is worried when he hasn’t been able to reach his Uncle Jim in Tombstone. He’s left all kinds of messages for over a week, and it’s not like his uncle to not call back. Sonja sees Mrs. Lee on the stairwell a bit later and asks if she’s heard from Jim. Mrs. Lee says she and Jim are still on the outs after her disastrous trip to visit him. Jim may have tried to call her, but she blocked his number in anger. Sonja asks Mrs. Lee to unblock Jim’s number and see if he will answer her. Mrs. Lee is reluctant to do this, but when she learns how worried Jude is, she agrees. Plus she still has unresolved feelings for Jim, and part of her did want to start communicating with Jim again.
Meanwhile Jude has managed to get a number for Charita Alvarez, the Mexican woman that Jim’s supposedly engaged to in Tombstone. Jude dials the number and reaches Charita. She is delighted to hear from him, because she’s heard so much about him from Jim. She says Jim is very proud of him. Jude asks if she’s seen his uncle lately, and she explains Jim went on a camping trip up in the mountains. But will be back in a week or so, because that’s when they’ll be married.
Jude is glad Jim’s okay, and he lets Sonja know. At the same time we see Mrs. Lee drinking alone inside her unit. She has called Jim a few times and left incoherent messages. In all of them she says she still loves him and wants to be his wife. As she leaves her latest message, there’s a knock at the door. It is Mrs. Lee’s brother Woo Jun.
Woo Jun is actually half owner of the apartment building, and he seldom comes around, leaving all the upkeep and general work to Mrs. Lee. Woo Jun is involved with some shady people, and he stashes a bag in the spare bedroom. Mrs. Lee asks what’s in the bag. Woo Jun says it’s best she doesn’t know, and if anyone comes around looking for him, she hasn’t seen him in months. He then gives her a peck on the cheek and leaves, making sure nobody’s seen him.
Mrs. Lee is curious about the contents of the bag, but on her way into the bedroom to take a look, she pours herself another drink and is distracted when Jim calls from the Arizona mountains. He says he’s gotten all eight hundred messages from her and he wants her to stop calling him. He will block her. She says that’s a fine thing to say, informing him that she’d blocked him but Sonja asked her to reach out.
We cut back to Sonja reading the letters she found. These are love letters written to Kathryn by a guy named Nathan. At Biggie’s, Marty has to go when Amanda calls that there may be a break in the case she’s helping him solve. We cut to Marty meeting up with Amanda a short time later. What Amanda thought might be a break in the case turns out to be a dead end. They spend time discussing personal things and Marty kisses Amanda. Amanda recalls their previous on-off fling, before Marty wed Pamela. Amanda says Marty needs to work out the problems he’s having with Pamela. Marty realizes she’s right.
Meanwhile, Jude is now home. As he comes in the door, Sonja asks who Nathan was. Jude says Nathan’s his dead uncle. Sonja asks if he’s sure. She then shows him the letters she found.
At the same time, Mrs. Lee has gotten a visit from a guy named Joaquin who is after some stuff her brother stole from him. Mrs. Lee says she hasn’t seen her brother in ages, but Joaquin doesn’t believe her. He starts to get violent towards her and she admits Woo Jun was here earlier and stashed a bag. Joaquin demands she get the bag. She goes into the other room and returns with the bag.
As Joaquin is leaving, Mrs. Lee asks if he and his gang are going to harm her brother. Joaquin says if everything is in the bag, then her brother will live. But if one single item is missing, her brother’s a dead man. Mrs. Lee reacts. Joaquin then leaves and Mrs. Lee pours herself another drink to relax.
Back at Jude and Sonja’s place, Jude is reading the letters. He realizes the handwriting is familiar. These letters were written by his uncle Jim.

124 Fatherhood Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
Sonja’s in her last weeks of pregnancy, and she is driving Jude crazy with her unusual midnight cravings. We play some of this for comic effect. But while Jude is attentive to Sonja, he is also distracted by the love letters Sonja found that were written by ‘Nathan’ to his mother. He rereads them. It would seem Nathan’s really Jim, and none of this makes very much sense to Jude. He’s called and left a few messages for Jim.
Meanwhile Mrs. Lee has decided she’s moving on with her life. While she hasn’t blocked Jim again, she definitely has no intention of answering if he ever calls or texts again. One morning while she is overseeing some repairs in a vacant unit, she gets another visit from Joacquin the man who recently claimed the bag her brother had dropped off.
Joacquin informs Mrs. Lee that Woo Jun did skim some of the contents in the bag. It’s unclear if this was drugs or money. Whatever the case, things don’t look good for Woo Jun. Unless he returns what he took, he’ll be killed. Joacquin instructs Mrs. Lee to get in contact with her brother. Woo Jun has till noon to make good, or he’s dead. Mrs. Lee reacts.
After Joacquin leaves, Mrs. Lee frantically tries to get in touch with Woo Jun. He picks up and she tells him about the two visits from Joaquin. Woo Jun promises to bring back what he took but wants Mrs. Lee to meet him at the park just before noon, so she is a witness in case things go bad with Joacquin and Joacquin’s goon.
Across the hall Jude finally hears from Jim who says he’s now back in Tombstone from the mountains and will be getting married tomorrow. Jude can hear Charita in the background making noise. Jude mentions the letters Sonja found. Jim acts like he doesn’t know what letters Jude’s referring to. Jude asks if Jim had an incestuous relationship with his late mother. Jim gets defensive and hangs up on Jude.
Though Sonja’s now on maternity leave, she’s gone to the coffee shop to see how Dewey’s doing. Everything seems to be going well. Sonja informs Dewey she will give him a raise. He’ll believe it when he sees his next pay stub. But Sonja really means it. Dewey’s wife Sadie comes in and learns what Sonja’s said.
In the next scene Jude comes in and tells Sonja about his difficult phone conversation with Jim, Nathan whoever the hell his uncle is. Sonja is sad there’s so much negativity. She tells Jude to give it some time. Jude needs to get to the precinct. Just then Sonja’s water breaks. She’s in labor. Dewey and Sadie help Jude get Sonja into the car. We go with Jude who drives Sonja to the hospital.
Back at the apartment building we see Mrs. Lee leaving to meet her brother at the park. She looks back at the place, not realizing this is the last time she’ll see it alive.
In the next scene she has met up with Woo Jun at the park. Joacquin and his fellow thug pull up. Woo Jun doesn’t have what he took, since he’s already used it. He tries stalling. But Joacquin sees through through this tactic. Joacquin gets angry and has his goon walk Woo Jun off to a nearby public restroom. He then joins them inside.
While that’s going on, Mrs. Lee is sitting on a bench. She’s decided to call Jim again. Their conversation quickly escalates into yet another disagreement. Jim accuses her of being stalker-ish. This hurts her feelings and she starts to cry.
Suddenly Mrs. Lee hears a shot. While she’s still on the line with Jim, she runs towards the restroom. Joacquin and his man are coming out. She sees through the open door her brother lying in a pool of blood. She starts screaming at Joacquin, which Jim hears.
Then Jim hears another shot. This time the bullet is for Mrs. Lee. The camera zooms in her dropped phone on the ground, and her lifeless hand nearby. Jim is saying “Are you there? Are you there?”
At the same time Sonja’s giving birth at the hospital. Jude was too nervous and passed out, unable to do the lamaze with her. He’s in the hallway having some water.
The captain shows up with Marty. They keep Jude company while he’s waiting. Jude says Sonja’s folks are on their way. The captain talks about when Lance was born. Ryan comes by. It is said he was already at the hospital, providing a sperm donation for Yvette and her husband Blane. He sees a text from Schuyler which he answers.
The Jablonskis have now arrived and are getting off the elevator. Traffic was bad and it took them longer than expected to drive into the city to be here for the birth. Sonja’s mother hopes the baby hasn’t been born yet. She is allowed to go in and be with Sonja, while Sonja’s father stays in the hallway. He makes fun of Jude when he finds out Jude fainted.
A half hour later, the doctor steps into the hallway. Jude is told his son was just born. He goes inside to see Sonja and their baby boy.

125 Sons Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
It is said that Jim postponed his marriage to Charita and flew up to Chicago when he overheard Mrs. Lee being shot. He also came to see Jude & Sonja and their new son, which is yet unnamed. Jim evades the subject of Jude’s mother Kathryn, and when an argument is about to erupt, he goes off to visit Mrs. Lee who’s out of a long surgery.
Jim realizes that Mrs. Lee is still fighting for her life. She may not make it, though she’s coherent and talking. Jude comes into the room, and despite the tension with Jim, has to ask Mrs. Lee a few questions as part of his job. It is said that Joacquin and his goon were apprehended. Also, Woo Jun is fighting for his life, after his injuries related to being shot.
During these scenes Jim feels a sense of care to Mrs. Lee who clearly loves him more than anyone in the world. When she nearly flatlines but hangs on, Jim decides on the spur of the moment he’s going to marry her. This makes her very happy, though she’s very weak.
Jude’s gone off to talk to Woo Jun, who seems like he will make a full recovery. Woo Jun admits some deal he had with Joacquin which went sour. He will likely be arrested. When Jude goes back to Mrs. Lee’s room, he learns she will be marrying Jim. Jim’s gone to get the priest. In the next scene Adrian arrives. Sonja is brought into the room in her wheelchair. She is nursing the baby as Jude looks on. Adrian marries Jim and Mrs. Lee who kiss after their vows. This has all happened quickly. Mrs. Lee sees an attorney that has come to represent her brother and she wants to speak to him. In the next scene we learn she wants to have a will drawn up that leaves everything she has to Jim in case she doesn’t live. She signs a document that is prepared on the spot.
We cut to Ryan who’s gone home and found Schuyler waiting to talk. Schuyler asks if Ryan went ahead with the sperm donation. Ryan says he did it earlier this morning. Schuyler guesses things are really over between them this time. Ryan says it doesn’t have to be this way. They can still have a family. Schuyler’s being too pig headed about this, and he leaves. Ryan gets a call from Blane that Yvette’s been scheduled for the insemination. Ryan reacts and looks out the window, watching Schuyler drive off.
At the precinct the captain is telling Amanda and the others about the birth of Jude’s son. There was a pool related to the birth, and the person whose guess was closest to the day and time of the birth has won several hundred dollars. That person is a new rookie cop named Tyrone Leighton. Marty is there wrapping up the investigation work he was doing. He seems to have patched up whatever trouble he was having with Pamela. He’s returning to Kankakee but will be back when Jude’s son is baptized since Jude already asked him to be the godfather. Marty walks out with Amanda, who is now off duty and on her way to a ‘date.’ We learn her ‘date’ is with Bradley who called and asked to talk to her about his mother. They spend time at the coffee shop. Bradley says his mom Trish is still on drugs but trying to quit. Amanda reacts.
This conversation is interrupted when Amanda’s mother Gisselle comes in. She is introduced to Bradley. Gisselle notices a birth mark on Bradley’s left ear, which is a birth mark that males in her family have. After Bradley takes off on his bike, Gisselle asks who the kid really is. ‘My son,’ Amanda replies. Gisselle almost doesn’t believe her.
Back at the hospital Jude is watching his infant son through the hospital window. He’s full of pride. Jim walks up and agrees it’s time to talk. They step into the chapel.
Jim tells Jude that his given name was Nathan, and his parents were killed in a car wreck. He was adopted by the Anthony family at age 11. Kathryn was his adopted sister. And when he was 18, and she was not quite 16, they had sex and Jude was conceived. Jude is shocked by this.
However, there is no time to deal with the revelation. A nurse pokes her head into the chapel, and says Jim needs to come quick. He hurries down the hall to Mrs. Lee’s room. As Jude looks on, Jim holds Mrs. Lee’s hand the same way Jude had once seen Jim hold his mother Kathryn’s hand. Jim says how much he loves her. Mrs. Lee dies in happiness and peace.
The last scene for the episode takes place a month later. It’s the day that Jude & Sonja’s son is being baptized at Holy Name. Marty’s back to be the godfather, and the godmother is Amanda. Jim is sitting in a pew next to Danny and the Jablonskis. He smiles when the baby’s name is said. It’s Nathan Karl Anthony.

126 New Beginnings Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
A few things have happened over the summer. The captain and Bernice are now a romantic item again. They have been keeping this quiet from the others, because they’re taking it slow. One day when Gisselle is out she sees Bernice having coffee with the captain and observes the captain kiss Bernice. She wastes no time running to Amanda to tell her. Of course, Amanda has better things to do than engage in idle gossip. Gisselle changes the subject and asks if Amanda’s seen Dr. Ross Jax lately, not professionally but personally. Amanda thinks it’s time her mother respect her boundaries. Amanda and Ross have a past, but they are not romantically connected. Gisselle has a hard time believing this.
The next day we see Ross with a client. The individual he is counseling is Lance O’Reilly. Lance has received counseling from Ross during the past few months, and this is his last session. He mentions having been in touch with an old boss, who offered him an assignment reporting news stories in Europe. Lance has accepted, but he needs to tell his family.
As Lance leaves Ross’ office, Amanda shows up. Ross considers this an unexpected surprise. She tells him about her frustrations with her mother. He says he doesn’t take Gisselle’s humorous attempts to keep setting them up seriously. Amanda’s glad. Ross asks about Bradley.
At the precinct, Ryan is asking the captain if he can have the afternoon off. He needs to attend a prenatal appointment with Yvette, since Blane is unable to be there. The captain tells Ryan this is okay. Jude enters and clocks in. He hears the captain on the phone with Bernice. When the captain goes to disconnect the call he accidentally hits speaker and everyone hears Bernice say she loves him too. The captain blushes but is glad everyone knows they’re back together.
Jude reminds the captain that he’s taking the afternoon off. He and Sonja are helping Jim deal with the financial and legal aspects of co-owning the apartment building with Mrs. Lee’s brother Woo Jun, who’s in prison and planning to get his conviction overturned on appeal. Tyrone, the rookie who recently joined the precinct, would also like the afternoon off. The captain says no more people are taking the afternoon off. Amanda comes in and someone asks if she heard about the captain and Bernice. She says yes, that’s old news. A call comes in about a hostage situation. Jude and Ryan head off to handle it.
In the next part, we reveal the hostage situation was exaggerated. An elderly woman who’s been wanting to divorce her husband for the last ten years but has been guilted into staying with the lout because of their kids and grandkids, claims she’s a hostage in a loveless marriage. Jude and Ryan tell Mrs. Klein there isn’t anything they can do to help her. She gets angry and takes a pistol out of a drawer that her husband keeps. She wants them to find a good divorce attorney for her, or she’ll shoot.
Back at the precinct Amanda gets a visit from Bradley’s mom Trish. Amanda learns that Trish has completed a drug counseling program and is now sober. Trish’s estranged husband Gary is heading to Chicago after a year on the road, and he wants to see Bradley. Trish asks what Amanda would do. Amanda recalls Gary as being a nice guy, and figures it may benefit Bradley to reconnect with Gary. Trish will consider it.
Meanwhile Heidi has shown up to see her father. In the captain’s office she tells her dad that she heard from her former boyfriend in Boston, Kermit Wilder, who says he misses her. He’ll be in town soon. She’s torn about whether she should agree to meet up. The captain thinks this is something Heidi would better discuss with Bernice.
We cut back to Jude and Ryan. They try to reason with Mrs. Klein. She’s emotional looking at family photos on the mantel and says she’s been with Mr. Klein for 49 years and it hasn’t been easy. Just as she is about to give up the gun, Mr. Klein comes in with good news. He just won $50,000 in the lottery. He’s going to take Mrs. Klein on a vacation to Hawaii. Mr. Klein takes the gun and asks what this is doing out of the drawer. He says the spring is broken and it can’t fire. Jude and Ryan react.
In the next scene Mrs. Klein is seeing Jude and Ryan out. She thanks them for not saying anything to her dear sweet husband about her meltdown, but pretending they came by because of a report about a possible prowler. They smile and leave.
We then dissolve to Ryan a bit later, meeting Yvette for the prenatal appointment. As they look at the ultrasound image on a screen, he starts to feel attached to the unborn child he’s fathered for her and Blane. At the same time Schuyler is meeting with Bernice at Biggie’s for coffee. He is still bitter about the Murdocks. He blames them, especially Yvette, for causing problems in his happy marriage to Ryan.
At the precinct Tyrone the rookie is asking one of the secretaries a question about Ryan. The secretary reads between the lines and says Ryan is married. Though Ryan’s separated from his husband. When the secretary mentions the husband’s name being Schuyler, the expression on Tyrone’s face suggests he may know Schuyler rather intimately.

127 No Longer Taking Clients Part 1 Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
It has been business as usual for Sugar and her girls. When a young man dies of a drug overdose at Sugar’s motel, Jude stops by to investigate. Sugar says the man, whose name they don’t know, checked in late the night before but was too high on cocaine to get it up with Sugar’s newest girl Venus, who is quickly becoming a favorite. Jude is introduced to Venus Orbison and can see why clients like her.
The young man’s body is hauled away and Jude tells Sugar he’ll be in touch in case he has more questions. As Jude drives off, Sugar tells the girls it’s back to work for them. But she wants a word with Venus.
They step into Sugar’s office. Sugar asks Venus to tell her everything about the dude who died, including the stuff Venus didn’t tell Jude. But Venus insists she told all she knew. Well, except one thing. The dead guy had a wallet Venus took. Sugar insists on seeing the wallet right now.
We cut to Jude arriving at the precinct. He tells Ryan about the man at the motel and mentions a new chick (Venus) working for Sugar who seemed to know more than she said. Ryan will drive by later and take a crack at her. Good boy, Jude says, smiling.
At the motel Venus produces the wallet she stole. Sugar looks through it. An ID card says the guy’s name is Orville Colby Jr. Sugar figures there’s an Orville Sr. somewhere and starts searching online. Venus asks why Sugar won’t leave that to the cops. Sugar says there could be a lot of dough in it for them, if the family wants to keep their son’s name out of the spotlight. Venus knew she was going to learn a lot working for Sugar.
We dissolve to later. Ryan has come by to speak to Venus and see what else she may know. At first Venus doesn’t realize he’s a cop since he is dressed in plain clothes, on his way to dinner with Yvette and Blane. Venus cozies up to him, pours a drink and talks freely. But when she realizes he’s a cop, and that he’s gay and not here to have sex, she clams up. Ryan leaves frustrated at getting nowhere with Venus.
In the next part it is a week later. Jude and Ryan are at the precinct discussing the fact that the John Doe is still in the morgue and they have no more clues about the guy’s identity. At the same time we see Orville Colby Sr. had been contacted by Sugar and he’s flown into Chicago to meet her. He has a big ranch in Wyoming. He says his son had come to Chicago on business and admits his son liked cocaine and hookers.
Out in the hallway we see Orville Sr.’s sister Genevieve and her husband Jeffrey. She is a persnickety old grouch who knows what sort of place this must be and she is turning her nose up at all the girls.
A few moments later, Orville steps out of Sugar’s office and tells Genevieve that it’s all been taken care of. He paid off Sugar and got his son’s wallet and ID back. He fails to tell his sister he also paid Sugar in advance for his own tryst with Sugar later. Jeffrey is on to Orville when he notices Sugar watching them leave, with dollar signs in her eyes.
In the next scene Orville Sr. and Genevieve show up at the precinct. Jude and Ryan learn that they are here to help close the case and take Orville Jr.’s body back to Wyoming. Jude is glad they now have answers. Genevieve implies that Sugar and her girls will not be running to the media, since her brother reached an agreement with Sugar. Jude reacts.
At the same time we see Genevieve’s husband Jeffrey has gone back to their room at the hotel. Genevieve’s personal assistant, Darla, is with him and they are carrying on an affair. They finish making love and spruce up just as Genevieve arrives. She says Orville went to the morgue to claim his son and arrange shipment of the body home. She has emails she wants Darla to help with. Jeffrey goes to find Orville and help him.
Later Genevieve and Darla are done with their work and she sends Darla out for tea. As Darla leaves, Genevieve notices an earring under one of the pillows. She is angry her husband has been sleeping with Darla again. She thought he had stopped that nonsense. If this wasn’t enough, Genevieve realizes she picked up her brother’s phone earlier and sees texts from Sugar. She texts Sugar back. She'll take care of these hussies.
When Darla returns to the suite with the tea, Genevieve invites her to have a cup with her. It is clear that while they sip the tea, Genevieve has drugged Darla’s cup. Darla starts to convulse and Genevieve does not help her. Darla dies.
Jeffrey returns, saying Orville didn’t want his help and went to do some shopping after finishing at the morgue. He realizes Darla is dead and Genevieve is responsible. Genevieve breaks down and says she could not share him with Darla. Jeffrey feels partly to blame and offers to help get rid of the body. Genevieve says she has a plan.

128 No Longer Taking Clients Part 2 Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
Sugar dabs some perfume behind her ears. She is waiting for Orville Sr. to turn up at the motel. But Jeffrey shows up instead. He says Orville is not coming but he’d like a room for himself. Sugar has Venus take him down the hall. Most of the rooms are occupied, so Sugar says they can use the room that she keeps reserved for a guy named Trigger.
There is a bit of awkward banter inside the room. Venus has been explaining how certain toys work.. Jeffrey wishes he had used some of these with Darla. Venus then steps into the bathroom to freshen up.
Jeffrey sneaks out and finds Genevieve in a rental car behind the hotel. They bring Darla’s dead body up a fire escape into the room and put her on the bed, while Venus is still freshening up. Then they leave. As they drive off, Venus steps out of the bathroom and sees a body under the covers and thinks it’s Jeffrey playing a game.
Down the hall Orville shows up for his “date” with Sugar. Sugar tells Orville she thought he wasn’t coming. He wouldn’t miss being with her for all the world. There are a series of short scenes with Sugar and Orville. He says he could take her away from all this if she wanted to stop entertaining clients. She remembers the time she almost left this life behind for a middle eastern prince.
Their chat is interrupted when Sugar hears Venus scream. Sugar thinks Trigger came back and something happened. She rushes down to the room, and Orville follows. Venus explains she got in bed, thinking Jeffrey was under the covers, but found this dead woman instead. Orville recognizes Darla and asks if the person Venus entertained was his son-in-law Jeffrey. Sugar says yes.
We cut to Jude and Tyrone on the scene a bit later investigating. Orville states that Darla was his sister’s assistant. Venus then speaks up and tells Jude about Jeffrey. Jude wants to speak to Genevieve and Jeffrey. He heads to the hotel to find them. Tyrone stays behind to finish collecting evidence. Venus is flirtatious with him, but like her previous experience with Ryan, she gets nowhere. She realizes Tyrone must be gay too.
At the same time, Sugar tells Orville she had a very nice time getting to know him, even though they didn’t have sex. Orville says he’s going to marry Sugar and then they will have plenty of sex. Sugar reacts.
Meanwhile Jude has arrived at the hotel, but he learns from Birdie who had befriended Genevieve that Genevieve and Jeffrey have checked out. He calls the airport but it is too late. They have flown to the Caribbean.
In the next scene Ryan shows up at the hotel. Jude has Ryan comb the Colbys’ suite for additional evidence. The plan is to extradite Genevieve and Jeffrey. Jude gets a call from Tyrone that he’s done at the motel and just returned to the precinct.
At the precinct the captain is being visited by Kermit Wilder who flew in from Boston. Kermit is anxious to see Heidi. Bernice shows up and like the captain, she is surprised that Kermit is such a handsome looking ivy league type. They didn’t think Heidi attracted these kinds of guys.
We cut to the hotel. Orville arrives and tells Jude and Ryan he knew his sister had marital issues, but he never knew she’d go so far as to kill Darla. Jude believes him. But Jude wants to know why Genevieve would have taken Darla’s body to the motel. Orville says his sister is refined and judgmental. She probably hadn’t thought it all out but wanted to pin the murder on Sugar, since she doesn’t like Sugar or what Sugar’s place represents. Jude agrees that makes sense.
Jude tells Orville that Sugar has made questionable choices but usually ends up doing the right thing in the end. Orville is glad to hear this. He tells Jude and Ryan that he intends to marry Sugar. They react.
We dissolve to a few days later. Genevieve and Jeffrey are on their way back to Chicago because Jude was successful in obtaining an extradition. At the same time, Heidi meets up with Kermit but tries to keep her old feelings in check, since he hurt her badly in Boston.
Meanwhile, we see Sugar at the motel. She has a phone conversation with Trigger, before she marries Orville and turns the place over to the other girls who were all her bridesmaids. Though all the girls are given an equal share, it is clear Venus is the one with a head for business and will run things. Before leaving, Sugar reminds Venus of her promise that Trigger can still stay here whenever he’s in town. Venus nods.
Sugar stops by the precinct on her way out of town with Orville. She wants to say goodbye to Jude and to discretely find out if Trigger has been staying out of trouble. Off to the side Orville spots Genevieve and Jeffrey being booked for Darla’s murder.
Genevieve learns Orville married Sugar and is angry Sugar is going to Wyoming and will take her place on the ranch. Orville is grateful Sugar is going to help him bury his son when he gets back to Laramie. They will have a good life there.
Jude, Ryan and Tyrone watch Sugar head off to the airport with Orville. Amanda then comes in. She had been away on vacation. She just saw Sugar leave with Orville and asks what that was all about. Jude tells her to brace herself and explains that Sugar is no longer taking clients. She just got married and is out of business for good. Amanda can’t believe it.

129 They’re Only Twelve Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
One afternoon as Amanda is clocking in for a shift, she gets a call from Bradley who says it is urgent he see her. He skipped school and is avoiding calls and texts from Sister Agnes and his mom. Amanda lets Jude know she will be right back, and she goes off to meet Bradley.
At the coffee shop, Amanda tells Bradley she only has a few minutes. He cuts to the chase and says he had sex with Dahlia Deveraux. He’s only twelve. And Dahlia is only twelve, too. Amanda isn’t sure this is something he should be telling her, and suggests he speak to Trish. But Bradley says he tried but his mom is having problems dealing with his dad, Gary, who just returned from being away for a year on the road.
As Sonja brings a brew over to Amanda on the house, Amanda decides she will stay a bit longer and hear Bradley out. After Sonja moves off to help another customer, Bradley tell Amanda that he was with Dahlia at the end of the summer, and she thinks she’s pregnant. Amanda nearly spits her coffee out. Just then Trish comes in with Gary. They are both surprised to find Amanda here with Bradley.
Amanda is reacquainted with Gary, whom she hasn’t seen in years. There is tension between Trish and Gary, who are having an uneasy reunion. Trish berates Bradley for not answering calls and asks why he skipped school. Amanda says Bradley has something to tell Trish and Gary. Amanda notices a missed text from Jude. She has to get back to the precinct and leaves. As Amanda exits, Trish and Gary hear about Bradley being with Dahlia and how Dahlia thinks she is pregnant. Trish quickly dials Dahlia’s mother Lorraine Deveraux.
In the next scene Trish and Gary have gone with Bradley over to the Deveraux home. In a very awkward and somewhat humorous scene Lorraine calls Dahlia downstairs. She and Bradley reveal all they did was kiss and some slight touching. They did not ‘go all the way.’ Dahlia was late with her period, but she tells her mother and Trish she just started having her period. So everything is back to normal.
Lorraine sends Dahlia back upstairs, while Gary takes Bradley on to the porch to have a talk. Inside, there is some tension between the two mothers. Lorraine still blames Trish for her son Damian being in a juvenile correctional facility. She doesn’t believe Trish was raped by Damian, and that Trish led him on and seduced him. Trish denies all this.
Outside Gary is lecturing Bradley about always causing problems. Bradley asks if he’s the reason Gary stayed away for a year. Gary realizes he has been too hard on Bradley and apologizes. He insists the issues between him and Trish are not Bradley’s doing. Trish is now exiting the Deveraux house, after she and Lorraine agreed their children should not see each other for awhile, though this isn’t what Bradley or Dahlia want.
We dissolve to the Conrad place later that evening. Bradley is in his room getting caught up on homework. In the kitchen, Trish and Gary have a heart-to-heart about the state of their deteriorating marriage. Gary says while he was away trucking on the west coast, he met a woman that he fell in love with and that he wants a divorce from Trish so he can marry the other woman, who lives in Seattle. Trish reacts.
We cut to Bradley on the other side of the kitchen door. He was coming in for a snack and just heard everything.
The next morning Amanda is finishing her graveyard shift. She clocks out at the precinct and tells Jude she is heading home for some sleep. On her way out she gets a call from Dewey at the coffee shop. Sonja has the day off. Dewey says he caught Dahlia and Bradley stealing some food.
The two kids met at the coffee shop before school, though they have been told not to spend time with each other. Amanda is now getting into her car. She tells Dewey she’ll stop by and talk to the kids.
At the coffee shop a short time later, Amanda is brought up to speed about Dahlia not really being pregnant, but her still being Bradley’s girlfriend. Amanda pays for the pastries that were taken. Dahlia goes off to the school but Bradley stays behind to continue chatting with Amanda. He says his parents are divorcing because his dad wants to marry someone else. Amanda reacts.
In the next part, Amanda has driven Bradley to school to ensure he gets there. Sister Agnes is grateful and tells Bradley the first bell just rang. Amanda then drives to the Conrad place to talk with Trish.
She finds Trish strung out on drugs again. Trish is in tears and says Gary got back on the road, anxious to reunite with his girlfriend in Seattle. Amanda admits Bradley told her some of what’s been happening. She doesn’t think Trish really wants to jeopardize her sobriety. She calls Ross for help, and Ross agrees to come by.
After Ross has helped Trish, he and Amanda go for lunch at Biggie’s. While waiting for their food, they discuss Trish, Gary and Bradley. Amanda realizes it’s hard to remain uninvolved, since she cares about what happens to Bradley. Something she says her mother Gisselle has pointed out to her more than once. Ross asks Amanda why she cares so much about Bradley. Amanda says Bradley’s her biological son. Ross reacts, as this was something he did not know.
This is interrupted when the captain, Bernice and Heidi come in to meet Kermit who is sitting at a nearby table with Lance. Heidi has Shannon with her, and it is said that she still enjoys looking after him. Lance has also bonded with their younger half-brother. The O’Reillys order food. While Lance tells the captain and Bernice about a job offer in Europe, which he is going to accept, Heidi steps out back with Kermit who is having a cigarette.
Heidi tells Kermit that everyone can’t understand how she, a disabled girl, attracted such a hunk. But they both know Kermit was only with her in Boston because he burned through his trust fund, and found out she has money. At first she thought Kermit might really love her, since he flew all this way to make up with her. But she figures it’s because he’s broke again and nobody else will take him on with all his bills.
Kermit kisses Heidi and says he has a good paying job now. He claims the reason he came to Chicago to see her is because he realized he did love her. And he wants another chance. Heidi was hurt badly by his betrayal in Boston, and she isn’t sure she can forgive him that.

130 Sweet Birdie of Youth Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
It is a week later. Lance has left for the job in Paris. Bernice comes by the precinct to let the captain know she had a call from Lance earlier, and he’s settling in. She thinks maybe they can go see him around the holidays, if the captain can finagle time off. He will see what he can do but won’t make any promises.
They also discuss the fact Heidi decided not to reconcile with Kermit, whom she still feels conflicted about. The captain is not a fan of Kermit and regards the guy as shallow and materialistic. He thinks Kermit might have secrets. There is something about him he doesn’t trust. He is hoping Kermit will beat a path back to Boston. On her way out of the precinct, Bernice gets a call from Kermit who’d like her to swing by his suite at the hotel.
Against her better judgment Bernice does stop by the hotel. She learns Kermit is planning to return to Boston the following day. He says he has been hurt by Heidi’s rejection. He is drinking and Bernice has a drink with him, out of pity.
At the same time we intercut Amanda on a day off having drinks with her mother Gisselle at Biggie’s. She talks about what’s happened with Bradley, Gary and Trish. Gisselle coaxes Amanda into telling her more about the circumstances surrounding Bradley’s birth and how Amanda came to give Bradley to the Conrads.
Amanda realizes that her mother isn’t too surprised about some of this. Gisselle admits she had hired a private detective to get some info after Amanda confessed Bradley was her biological son. She wasn’t sure if Amanda would ever give her any additional details, and she wants to be a proper grandmother to Bradley. Amanda doesn’t think that’s a good idea, given Trish’s fragile state at the moment.
We go back to the hotel. Heidi has come by to see Kermit, since she received a text this was his last day in Chicago. She bumps into Birdie and tells Birdie about her situation and how she feels she may have been too harsh with Kermit. Birdie says she recently reconciled with Dolph and that she believes in second chances where love’s concerned.
Birdie agrees to look after Shannon, while Heidi heads up to see Kermit. We go with Heidi up the elevator to Kermit’s suite. She knocks on the door. Kermit drunkenly opens it thinking it’s room service. Heidi is shocked to find her mother equally drunk and in bed, having just had sex with Kermit. Heidi runs out of the room crying.
In the next part Birdie learns what has happened. Heidi collects Shannon and gets a cab home. Bernice is now clothed and chasing after Heidi trying to explain. But Heidi slams the car door in her mother’s face and takes off with Shannon.
At this point Kermit, now fully dressed, has joined Bernice on the sidewalk outside the hotel. They realize what a mistake they made. Bernice needs to finish sobering up so she can talk to the captain.
Inside the hotel, Birdie meets with Dolph in the lounge, as Dieter looks on. It’s clear Dieter still pines for Birdie. Dolph’s divorce from his wife Taina finally came through. He plans to marry Birdie just as soon as humanly possible. The wedding will take place in a week.
Birdie recalls a time from her youth, when she was in love with Adrian’s father and planning to marry him years ago. She also mentions her quick marriage to Donald Barnes (from the episode ‘Birdie Gets Married’ in season 3). Donald is still in prison.
In the next part it is an hour later. Dolph is in a meeting with Fronklin and Jarrett. He tells them what kind of splashy reception he’d like to put on for Birdie and her friends, after the upcoming church wedding.
At the church Adrian talks to Agnes about being supportive of Birdie, though he still does not really approve of Dolph. Agnes agrees to be nice. She then steps into her office to meet with Amanda who’s come by to discuss Bradley and Trish. Amanda says Trish is getting help from Ross and another doctor, but fears Trish may relapse again. Agnes admits she also has those fears.
We cut to Gisselle who is driving Bradley to Bloomingdale’s to get some new clothes. We reveal that Gisselle often picks him up after his classes, and they have forged a bond. She hasn’t told him that she’s his biological grandmother. He knows she is Amanda’s mother and just thinks she’s a nice rich lady that he can manipulate for things.
Back at the church, Adrian gets a call from a family friend in Houston who says Cordelia died. Adrian is shocked. He knew Cordelia was in ill health but it’s a lot to take in. Agnes comes in to the church after her meeting with Amanda and learns about Cordelia. She prays with Adrian.
We cut to the precinct where Ryan and Tyrone are working on a case involving a possible stolen baby ring. They consult with Jude, who is about to clock out. Bernice arrives to see the captain, who is also about to clock out. He asks if what she came to discuss can wait. She says no.
In the next scene, we watch through the glass (but do not hear) Bernice telling the captain how she wound up in bed with Kermit and how Heidi discovered them. The captain storms out. This is witnessed by Jude and the other office staff, though they don’t know all the details. Bernice is in tears. She reapplies her makeup then walks out, telling Jude she is sorry for any disruption she may have caused. He reacts.
Meanwhile Sister Agnes has gone to the hotel to speak to Birdie. Agnes is annoyed by Birdie’s self-absorbed behavior, droning on about Dolph’s plans for the wedding. Agnes says she is not here to discuss any of that. She is here because Adrian’s dealing with a loss. What kind of loss, Birdie asks. Agnes tells her that Cordelia died.
At first Birdie can’t wrap her brain around the news. She calls a mutual friend in Houston who confirms the death. Birdie tells Agnes she would not have gotten off the street and come to stay at the hotel if it were not for Cordelia. There is a brief flashback about that time (from the season 3 episode ‘Adrian’s Mother’). Out of the flashback Birdie asks Agnes what she should do, how she can comfort Adrian. Agnes tells her to give Adrian time and space.
As Agnes is leaving, Dolph comes over. He learns from Birdie about Adrian losing his mother Cordelia. He asks if she wants to postpone the wedding. Birdie says no, but she does hope to speak to Adrian about Cordelia, before the wedding. We cut to Adrian at the church office. He is looking at a photo of him and Cordelia and Birdie.

131 Ex Marks the Spot Outline written by Jarrod McDonald, c) 2023
It is a week later. Adrian is ready to talk with Birdie. They have a heart-to-heart and feel closer afterwards. Birdie knows she can never fully be the kind of mother that Cordelia was to Adrian. All she can do is be herself, and to be there for Adrian. He asks if she is ready for the big wedding tomorrow. She thinks she is.
We cut to a quick scene with Fronklin and Jarrett finalizing the reception decorations. Jarrett’s afraid Fronklin may be cracking under the strain of trying to make sure everything is perfect per Dolph’s specifications.
At the precinct Jude gets up to speed with Ryan and Tyrone about the possible stolen baby ring. It is mentioned that when Marty Fredericks was in Chicago working on a case last spring, he was investigating links to a man who had raped his wife Pamela. During that investigation, Marty had met with a woman named Nevaeh Belmont.
Miss Belmont is a female attorney who allegedly buys unwanted babies and sells them to wealthy couples who can’t have children of their own. Pamela had gotten pregnant after her rape and was unable to bring herself to have an abortion, so she had been in touch with Nevaeh. But then Pamela decided against giving the baby up, which turned out to be Marty’s after a new DNA test was conducted.
Jude has been on the phone with Marty to go over a few questions he has about Nevaeh Belmont. At the same time Ryan and Tyrone have gone to get coffee. Tyrone is texting with Schuyler, with whom he’s been in touch again since their one-night stand. Schuyler is begging Tyrone not to tell Ryan about any of that. Tyrone replies back he won’t.
As Ryan and Tyrone return to the conference room they learn what Jude found out from Marty. We then cut to Schuyler. He has gone to see Yvette, who is now very pregnant and due in about a month. She says Blane and her are having problems, but she knows he will be around when the baby is born. Schuyler realizes Ryan doesn’t know Blane moved out.
Meanwhile Amanda has gone to see Trish who seems to be doing better. Trish is paranoid because Amanda, Ross and the other doctor keep checking on her. Amanda promises she will back down. She sees some new stuff Bradley got. Trish says Gisselle bought those items for Bradley.
In the next scene Amanda has stopped off at her mother’s home. Gisselle doesn’t deny having a “friendship” with Bradley and buying him things he needs. Amanda doesn’t like Gisselle’s interference. Gisselle says this is not interference, it is a grandmother’s devotion and love. Amanda gets paranoid and asks if Gisselle’s been telling Bradley anything about her (Amanda) being Bradley’s mother. Gisselle insists she hasn’t.
Gisselle brings up her detective again. She has been led to believe that Ross Jax is Bradley’s biological father. Amanda says Ross is Bradley’s uncle, and that it was Ross’ twin brother Amanda married in college. Gisselle asks what happened to the brother. Amanda says he died. Gisselle knows as much, but how. How did the man die? Amanda is unable to go into the details and leaves. Gisselle is frustrated but is soon distracted when Bradley calls and asks when they’ll go shopping again.
We dissolve to the next day. It is time for Birdie’s wedding to Dolph. The ceremony occurs, but on the morning of the big event, Dolph’s ex Taina shows up to try and win Dolph back. She’s been put up to this by Dieter, who for his own reasons, doesn’t want Birdie to marry his brother. Birdie is surprised that Taina’s young enough to be Dolph’s daughter.
Taina interrupts the church wedding by aiming a gun at the couple up at the altar. Adrian manages to talk her into handing over the gun which Jude takes. Then Jude and Amanda haul Taina off.
Meanwhile Ryan is having a chat with Schuyler who says he recently visited with Yvette. Ryan wishes Schuyler would stay out of it. It does not really involve Schuyler, but Schuyler disagrees. Schuyler then says Yvette and Blane are no longer living together. Ryan pretends he already knew, but clearly he didn’t.
Back at the church Adrian finishes the ceremony and he pronounces Dolph and Birdie man and wife. Dieter is disappointed that Taina failed in her mission to stop the wedding. He heads to the hotel to get drunk.
Later at the hotel, everyone’s enjoying the reception, including Jude who has joined back up with Sonja and tells everyone that Amanda’s processing Taina at the precinct. Dolph doesn’t want them to throw the book at Taina and says she has a history of mental problems.
At the same time Fronklin is breathing easier because the reception has gone off beautifully. He and Jarrett have received many compliments on how lovely the decorations look. Fronklin tells Jarrett that he was once in an institution as a teenager. His well-to-do parents locked him away for awhile when he came out to them as gay at 12 years old.
We then cut to Bradley, who has come by the precinct to see Amanda. He will turn 13 in a few months. He says Gisselle offered to buy him anything he wanted for his next birthday. He wants to make sure this is okay with Amanda, since Trish told him Amanda seemed bothered by Bradley’s “friendship” with Gisselle. But Amanda says it’s fine. She appreciates Bradley being thoughtful enough to come by and ask.
Bradley says the real gift he’d like for his birthday is for his parents not to split up. He misses his dad and wishes he had more time with Gary. Amanda figures Gary will get in touch with Bradley. As they talk, Amanda realizes Bradley has marks on his arm. She asks who did this.
