I'm glad you mentioned Shelley Hack because, at the time, people were telling me I looked like her,(and then someone would always pipe up and say, no, I didn't because I had dark hair). A few years later no one would ever remember Shelley Hack when the show was mentioned, but she and I had our moment.

A few years later no one would ever remember Shelley Hack when the show was mentioned, but she and I had our moment. That's funny. In the 80s, Shelley Hack did a few other short-lived series but none of them were hits. In the 90s she was doing guest appearances then abandoned her acting career in the late 90s. She appeared as herself on several retrospectives about Charlie's Angels in the 2000s.
Her biography on her wiki page is very interesting. She was from a wealthy east coast family, went to college in Australia, started modeling in the late 60s, became a supermodel by the mid-70s, appeared in some iconic commercials, branched out into acting...and then later, she reinvented herself as a TV producer in Europe. She's kind of done it all. She didn't get married and have a child until she was 43. All six of the Angels are interesting women, but Shelley seems to have reinvented herself several times, and she's accomplished a lot with her life.

The original run was slightly before my time. I used to pretend to be Charlie's Angels with the older neighbor girls next door, but I had never heard of the show and had no idea what we were doing. Of course, I never admitted this to them. Later, after I discovered the show in reruns, I realized that being told to play Julie was probably a slight. lol I bought seasons 1-4 years ago, but never got around to buying 5. Kelly is by far my fav. I liked Kelly's backstory, and of course, Jaclyn Smith was gorgeous. Maybe, I shouldn't say this because it's mean, but I thought Kate Jackson was rather homely and came across as smug on the show. Kris was a bit too perky for my taste, and Farrah's appeal always escaped me, but perhaps, I woud feel differently if I were a man. lol

I think there are plenty of Tanya Roberts fans so being made to play Julie may not have been a bad thing!
I am really enjoying season 4...and will probably go on to season 5, the year with Julie, before I go back and watch all the early stuff with Kate & Farrah.

All five seasons are on Amazon Prime, and it's been a trip rewatching some of the episodes.
Kate Jackson is still my favorite.
I was never enraptured by Farrah like half the world was.

With the light look of facial Shelley Hack combined with the dark-haired contrast, Andrea Doria, I'm sure you've broken your share of hearts.

Thank you Noshear. I always thought with blue eyes and dark hair, neither dark nor fair, 5'5" neither tall nor short, I was nobody's type. LOL When, "The Greatest America Hero," came along my little boy thought Connie Selleca was me on the screen, and a few others noticed that, so I guess her look was about the closest to me. It's all over now! These days the highest compliment I can hope for is, "You look nice." LOL

I started watching season 5 of CA yesterday. The first story is a two-parter that introduced Tanya Roberts' character Julie Rogers, with only an off-handed comment about why Tiffany Welles (Shelley Hack) is no longer working for the Townsend Agency.
The two-parter premiere is actually very good, with not one, but four villains. And it's interesting how Julie, a model, gets involved in detective work.
The next story takes the group to Hawaii where they remain for the next five or six episodes. As a kid, I remember watching the Hawaii-based episodes thinking it was a total change in format. To some extent, yes, they are copying Hawaii Five O. But when I binge-watched these yesterday, I thought they were fairly decent. In fact one of these was excellent and had a great twist ending. Another Hawaii story, however, which had Julie scuba diving for lost treasure-- 'Angels of the Deep'-- was dreadful with a guest cast that seemed as if they were sleep-walking through their roles. Certainly one of the show's worst offerings.
Mid-season they return to Los Angeles. One of the episodes from the middle of the season, called 'Moonshinin' Angels' gets a lot of criticism online for its hokey brand of backwoods drama, which seems like CA has temporarily gone all Dukes of Hazzard. But honestly, I kind of like this episode since it gives us a slightly different format, and it's fun to see the cast in a rural setting for a change.
The best mid-season episode which I watched this morning is called 'He Married an Angel,' which has guest star David Hedison pulling cons left and right. When the Townsend Agency gets involved, Kris (Cheryl Ladd) out-cons him and the results are very satisfying.
Though the fifth season seems to have a few questionable outings, there are more hits than misses...and I wouldn't exactly write off the Julie-based episodes. Tanya Roberts looks great, as do the other two angels, and even though Miss Roberts' acting is a little sketchy at times, I think she brings a good energy to the show. She isn't as subdued or glamorous as Shelley Hack. But she has a sense of fun, and she does play off Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd and David Doyle quite well.

LOL "You never know just how you look through other people's eyes" - BH Surfers I suspect you're self-effacingly selling your attributes 5'5" short, Andre Doria: I still contend that the light eyes/dark hair combination is striking in its contrast.

I finished watching season 5 of Charlie's Angels. There are a few mediocre episodes near the end, but even those are still watchable. Two of the later episodes are truly fantastic...one where bad guy Eric Braeden brainwashes poor Julie (Tanya Roberts), called 'Attack Angels'...and another one called 'Angel on the Line' where Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) is stalked by a female impersonator...excellent guest performance by Bruce Watson.
I also liked one called 'Taxi Angels' which featured some good guest stars and gave Kelly/Jaclyn some fun comic relief. And the final episode, 'Let Our Angel Live' which has Kelly in a coma after being shot, is a good excuse to flashback over series highlights though no clips of Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson or Shelley Hack are used. The end of 'Let Our Angel Live' finally shows Charlie in the flesh, played by an uncredited actor, not John Forsythe who had so famously voiced the titular character all five seasons as well as in the later feature films.

I never bothered with that show. Knew about it, of course - and caught a few minutes of it now and then for some reason (was someplace where someone was watching it).
But none of the "angels" impressed me really - and the show seemed pretty stupid.

But none of the "angels" impressed me really - and the show seemed pretty stupid. I had mentioned earlier in the thread that I was expecting the episodes to be cheesy. I hadn't seen any of them, really, in over twenty years.
But to my surprise, the show has a very mild yet potent form of feminism (just right, not overpowering) and the individual episodes have a lot of heart in them. I've only reviewed about five of the episodes on the IMDb, which stood out to me for one reason or another. And my very first review has garnered all likes, and a lot of likes! So this tells me the show still has a very active and appreciative fanbase.
