This seems like a good place to start a discussion of TCM’s Noir Alley. The schedule for the rest of 2022 is: 10-22, 23 Cage of Evil (1960) 10-29, 30 El Vampiro Negro (1953) (A TCM premiere) 11-5, 6 City of Fear (1959) 11-12, 13 Tension (1949) (A Noir Alley repeat, originally presented on 3-26-2017) 11-19, 20 The Unfaithful (1947) 11-26, 27 Death of a Cyclist (1955) 'Muerte de un ciclista' 12-3, 4 Decoy (1946) 12-10, 11 Walk Softly, Stranger (1950) 12-17, 18 Mr. Soft Touch (1949) (off for Christmas and New Year's)

OK, so this is where we discuss the Sat/Sun film noir with Eddie. Thanks. I put a plug in for the new board on the old board and hope it takes.

I’m glad to see this topic, as the Noir Alley thread has always been a favorite of mine on the old board. I usually defer to posters who are more knowledgeable about noir, but I always feel like I’m learning something (as with Eddie’s intros and outros).
The only film on the upcoming schedule that I’ve seen is MR. SOFT TOUCH, which appears to be Eddie’s Christmas noir selection for this year.
How about this week’s entry, CAGE OF EVIL — worth seeing? (I watch Eddie’s intros and outros without fail, but not always the film itself.)

I have not yet seen Cage of Evil either - it hasn't been shown on TCM since January 2000.
Unfortunately it has a rather low score on IMDB - only a 5.5 / 10.
Sometimes Eddie can come up with an angle to bring out something in the lesser films, so it will be interesting to see what approach he takes. The run time is listed as only 70 minutes, so it must move along fairly quickly.

70 minutes is perfect. The cool thing about film noir is the ratings or stars are meaningless. If you like it then hello movie show.

Got a new TV, 40 inches, now to plug it in to the cable, oh good lord, please don’t ask me all this stuff I can’t answer. Remember back in the day when TVs weren’t smart alecks? You plugged them in and the channels came on.

Did anyone watch CITY OF FEAR on Noir Alley? It wasn't bad. Vince Edwards is great playing moody criminals.

I watched last night. I enjoyed City of Fear. What I thought was interesting actually was the short promo film for Noir City afterward directed by Lyle Talbot's grandson Joe Talbot. Eddie mentioned to stay tuned in his wrap-up.
If you watched this morning they didn't air the short and they edited out the part where Eddie talked about it. So a special treat for some. If you can access Watch TCM on line you can see it there.

Thanks for mentioning the short. I recorded last night’s broadcast, so I’ll be sure to look for it.

Before a viewing of Jon Berry's Tension I thought I'd take a quick look at some background stuff on his career. Nothing on the Tube and found a rather dull obit from The Times. This Guardian article has slightly more punch. Berry wrote the screenplay to Tamango, which is currently on WatchTCM; might give that shot.

This is a must-have thread for fans of noir. Good to see that Eddie showed Tension.

Did anyone catch Decoy on last night's Noir Alley? I only saw the intro by Eddie, but as always, his wordsmanship piqued my interest in the film.

I seen it a few times before so I was mainly interested in Eddie's comments. The best thing about Decoy is the femme fatale as played by Jean Gillie.
