So there's this World Cup thing going on, right?
But let me draw your attention to another championship: The National Finals Rodeo has just wrapped up round 6, and we have 4 more nights of excitement and edge of your seat danger and entertainment. It's a cowboy and cowgirl world of grit and heart. If you're wholly unaware of this stuff, give it a chance. I bet you'll like it.
And a movie tie-in goes with it. "The Lusty Men" (1952) with Robert Mitchum, Arthur Kennedy, and Susan Hayward. Really a pretty good film about rodeo cowboys and their outside-of-the-arena lives. It was on TCM several months ago, I think, and I was quite surprised by it.

Well, Ando, as far as I know it's being shown on The Cowboy Channel. When we moved to Oklahoma last January this channel is part of our cable package. I don't think it is a regular part of most packages around the country, though it's making some headway in places. Pretty niche market for now. The channel is an affiliate of RFD TV, which provides news and entertainment for rural America. The Cowboy Channel covers mostly rodeo and Western sports.
I do know the channel provides an app for other types of viewing, so I think that's probably the option available.
If you do happen to see some stuff about the NFR and have any questions, I don't know how helpful I'll be; but I'll try my best at giving you some information about the sport. I'm pretty new at this, myself; but it's really been a fascinating sport to follow since we moved here.
By the way, CBS I think still covers bull riding events throughout the year. It's a rodeo event that's taken on a life of its own and has different leagues going on all the time.
Thanks for your interest. I hope you will be able to find a way to see some of the performances. Brian

Thanks, Brian. Quite the challenge trying to find a free streamer of this event. Contemplated doing the Slingtv free month to get The Cowboy Channel and watch the remaining three days of competition but I'm determined to find an alternative. Course, my local cable company doesn't have The Cowboy Channel - and Rodeos, as a sport, are usually missing from the renegade streaming sports sites (strikeout.nu, vibox.lv, etc.). Not sure I want to actually subscribe to CC just for the remainder of the finals. May just catch the highlights and replays on the Tube.
Btw, do you agree with this dude about Rocker Steiner?

Well, Ando, that's quite a surprise that anyone would be that interested in rodeo. I really knew nothing about it until we came upon the channel last January. As with most sports, if you start paying attention to it, you find out that an incredible amount of time and dedication are devoted to accomplishing something that few people can do. And then there's just the physics of it all, how objects relate to forces exerted on them. Add to that human beings training horses to do intricate maneuvers. It's a whole other world.
The other thing about rodeo is that almost every weekend of the year there is a number of events happening. The sort of official start comes at the end of January and beginning of February and runs to October. And the Cowboy Channel covers most of it in one way or another.
As far as Rocker Steiner goes, I think the guy in the video nails it. "The only people who are cowboys are actual cowboys." I get that. It's fun to keep the image of clean-cut, wholesome cowboys and cowgirls; but in reality they're just people in a very demanding and often dangerous sport. To be honest, I didn't even know Steiner had that reaction. No one on the channel is talking about it the way other sports shows might. I think the cowboy world is "yeah, so what?" And then spit out some of their tobacco juice.
Anyway, I hope you have some fun finding out more about all this.

Thanks. Would love to watch the entire final day of competition. Someone'll upload it on the Tube eventually.
