What are you watching on PLEX? It's been a popular home media sever for years but I love it for the older tv series that they've kept in their library (Wanted: Dead or Alive, Kung Fu, Dick Cavett Show, etc.). It's one of the best free streaming services out here now. Though the movies and shows do have ads you can easily bypass them by adding a free ad-blocker to your browser (sadly, this isn't an option w/the PLEX app). Aside from the app you can also acess the website on most browsers. Here's a primer on what they offer: I'm about to watch Baraka (1993, Ron Fricke), a film I fell in love with when I saw it at a festival eons ago. Looking forward to another viewing.

Decided to try out using the PLEX server to stream all my ripped movies. Tried the free version first, of course, and so far I like it. Two major things I don’t like which may not be a big deal necessarily:
1)You have to keep your desktop or main file source ON at all times in order to access data remotely. If your desktop or home server goes into sleep mode or is off access is denied. I have security in place so it probably won’t pose a problem with potential hackers but I’ve removed all important personal data just in case.
2) The PLEX media app from Windows NOT the Playstore is the one to download. The app from Playstore has severe limitations and is ultimately a waste of time. But you can also use the PLEX website if you don’t want to use apps. And, contrary to what the guy in the video below says, it does play your media files directly.
I’m loving having access to my personal media remotely. Here’s a great “dummies” breakdown on how to set up PLEX:

Se7en (1995, David Fincher)Two detectives, a rookie (Bratt Pitt) and a veteran (Morgan Freeman), hunt a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) who uses the seven deadly sins as his motives. Love the subway rattled dinner in Paltrow and Pitt's NYC aprtment but I can't remember much else besides it. Like watching it all over again. Free on PLEX.

Q&A (1990, Sidney Lumet) Dirty cop, Mike Brennan thinks he got away with murder. But during a routine Q&A, the righteous assistant DA finds a clue that sets them both on a collision course.
One of a handful of Lumet films I haven't seen. Nice on-set career retrospective on his career above. Q&A is currently streaming free on PLEX.
