The Delian Mode (2009)
Wow this is like winning the lottery, finding all my lost dryer socks and spotting bigfoot all in one.
I just found Delian Mode is available free online.
Another Hot Doc I have never recovered from viewing.
From the imdb: A visually sumptuous record of an important figure
The Delian Mode is a wonderful 25 minute documentary about British electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire by Canadian director Kara Blake. The film blends archival footage, interviews with Delia's friends and peers at BBC Radiophonic Workshop, recordings of Delia discussing her life and art, and interviews with contemporary musicians who cite her as an influence, such as Portishead, Add N To X and Sonic Boom. All these elements are woven together in a visually dense, almost tactile experience. It's perfectly paced, and completely engrossing—a fitting tribute to such an important figure in the history 20th century music.

- I think we need to see a meticulously crafted movie about her work along the lines of Hidden Figures.
- One of the true geniuses and pioneers of modern recording and editing techniques.
- Really great documentary about an amazing, pioneering woman
- Imagine you're watching TV in 1963, all you know is the pop music of the time, and then you tune into Dr Who and that thing comes howling out of the TV. It must have been mind-blowing.
- I find it so shocking that such an honourable company like the BBC didn't credit Delia.
- This is the music that Dr. Frankenstein would make, if he had that equipment.
- After graduating college she applied for a position at Decca Records, only to be told that the company did not employ women in their recording studios.
