Bathtubs Over Broadway (2018) A Late Night comedy writer stumbles upon a hilarious, hidden world of corporate entertainment and finds an unexpected connection to his fellow man. Tribeca and WGA Award winnerI saw this at Hot Docs when it first came out and can't get it out of my mind. If you get a chance to see it I don't think you'll regret it. I'm out of practice writing any kind of movie review so I'll leave it to a few imdb comments: - Laugh and cry about toilets
- Fascinating, witty and wonderful
- If you hate musicals, this is still a great movie
- Hidden Gem
- Unexpected poignancy
I'm not sure the trailer does it justice but it's a start. I haven't seen it air on tv yet. It looks like there won't be a DVD. It appears to be on Netflix but I worry it is flying under the radar and that's a shame. It was touching to see how important commercial art is/was to so many artists, way beyond just a paycheque or side hustle to their "real art".

This just looks like so much fun. Glad you posted it 'cause I sure never heard of it. Added to my Want to Watch list that maybe I can get started on after the Christmas movies and finishing my current capture backlog of 3 or 4 dozen movies. π

I (surely?)(hope?)(think?)(pray?) I am far too young to be a luddite but I must apologize for not yet knowing the mechanics of snipping, quoting, replying...and most likely being too adept at posting photos and videos....I hope I am not whacking away at anybody's data packages limits with my nonsense.... So many posts on this great new site (1000 thank you's topbilled) that I would like to comment on but hold back out of fear of making a big mess, accidentally deleting myself or the quite possibly disappearing the whole shebang. I was pretty much a lurker on the TCM boards but visited often, especially to check on Information, Please (which I can't find here - my whole raison d'Γͺtre - please note the bold, italics and font size, no I am not joking - please show me where it is someone before I pass out!). The TCM boards going down made me realize how important all the personal input is on movie viewing. It may be ridiculous for some to hear me to say I really struggled when the imdb took away their boards. I am talking tears and depression. Having this site is helping immensely with preventing a repeat performance. And yes, of course we all want to see every movie ever made, but reading someone's personal notes on an item I might have passed over or missed makes a real difference to my movie viewing experience and dare I say life? My own writing skills seem to have dried up and wizened a bit and my memory is terrible but be sure I am cognizant of how Tom Cruise/TCM Cruise annoying my posts will mostly likely be too those with good memories, write well and do a great deal of research. Feel free to bar me at anytime just know my heart is in the right place. Having said that, I am so glad YOU commented on my post dianedebuda as I was SO CURIOUS to ask a while back what are the couple of genres you dislike? Too funny you are over here poking around in the genre quicksand. Posted by dianedebuda
I rarely had the time or energy to visit the genre boards on the TCM site and the same will probably happen here. In addition, there are only a couple of genres that I dislike, so it could be like entering quicksand for me. I also can't believe your Watch List is SO short! I really am a slacker and must clearly give up food, drink, bathing, sleep, etc. to get to the thousands (underestimate) on mine. It doesn't help that every post and thread here is adding to my backlog!

Edit: Having trouble snipping to just part of the full quote, so:
I'm not much into Animation although I enjoy watching docs about the techniques used to produce the art. I have a real narrow subset in Horror that I like; no to most.
The 3 or 4 dozen movies on my "Active" Watch List is just a subset. I have another 860 that I've captured that are still asleep, waiting to be promoted into active duty. π I was getting so far behind, that I stopped recording much during the last couple of years. And it was taking me too long to go through the schedules every couple of weeks for TCM, HBO, and more sifting out what I already had from what was available even though I had a semi-auto spreadsheet method set up. π©
You're not alone with backlog management problems. π

In all my years of haunting thrift stores and used record stores I never came across any of these, which is a shame because they're the exact kind of thing I would have loved. It's amazing how much money was poured into these productions and how many people were employed. The albums themselves were basically souvenirs meant for employees of the company sponsors so it's a lucky thing that many of them survived. I have a couple of books about musical oddities over the years and these aren't even mentioned, so the documentarian has done a good service in highlighting this fun genre. Thanks for posting this reminder.
