I'm embarrassed by the fact that I like "Every Girl Should be Married."

I can never quite figure out how I feel about Betsy Drake. I think in a way, she was a nut, which kind of works to her advantage in comedic/screwball roles. One of her films, PRETTY BABY (1950) has a very screwy premise and she's perfect for it. But when she tries to play a more serious role, like she does opposite Robert Young in THE SECOND WOMAN (1950) I think her performance is simply lackluster and dreadful.
She wouldn't have had any leading roles if not for her courtship and marriage to Cary Grant. Her Hollywood career is definitely a case of 'who you know' versus 'what you know.' But all things considered, I don't find her intolerable and in some comedies, she's enjoyable.
