The late eruption of KRAKATOA EAST OF JAVA in the United States is said to have occurred at the CINERAMA dome 55 years ago on this day... Quentin Tarantino later recreated the theater's facade for his ONCE UPON A TIME IN... HOLLYWOOD: I got to attend a special screening of the 2019 movie at the celebrated theater which brought me fifty years full circle with my childhood experience of seeing KRAKATOA EAST OF JAVA at the DOME.

I love that Krakatoa is actually west of Java and the producers knew it but decided "East" sounded more exotic or something. That's great that you have the memory of seeing it in Cinerama and at the Dome. It's amazing how long our movie experiences can stay with us.

Speaking of the DOME, I Love Melvin, I've got a Capitol Records-related post for you in mind...

NoShear - I love the research you do! I'm a big fan of the movie ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD 2019. You can probably guess why - there is vintage footage of Dean's last Matt Helm film (with Elke Sommer, Nancy Kwan and Sharon Tate!) that plays in the theater when the character of Sharon Tate walks in. In real life, Dean and Sharon Tate became friends (as so many people did who worked with Dean). THE WRECKING CREW 1969 ended up being the last Matt Helm film for the franchise. There was suppose to be a fifth but Dean stopped and didn't want to make any more after the death of Sharon Tate. Dean and Sharon on the set of THE WRECKING CREW I'm also a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio who I think is one of modern times most talented actors and film producers.

Agreed, NoShear did cool research.
Like you, I'm a fan of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." I love the scene where Margot Robbie, as Tate, goes to see herself in the movie. She so sincerely and innocently happy and proud, it's infectious. You just feel so happy for her and sad for what is to come. At least she had that moment.

Thank you, christine, and I'm glad I was able to furnish you with an excuse to mention Dean Martin in this thread.
