"My name came first; the curtains came later."
Great delivery. Hilarious. Loved it.

In my opinion......
I feel that even from the very beginning, Garfield's Mickey has an air of "I'm a jerk because I've had a troubled life," while Sinatra's Barney is decidedly just an ass.

1955 was probably one of the last years when a family might have a living room with a piano a harp some easy chairs and no sofa at all.
After that everyone had to have a sofa to line up in front of the TV.

After that everyone had to have a sofa to line up in front of the TV. And sheet music was a big business, too.

Day and Sinatra do a great job of making the scene uncomfortable.

I think Young is doing a good job, but he just doesn't have the ease that Lynn had in the role.

Barney's got a chip on his shoulder.
Yes. The only thing that saves him from seeming like one sniveling ball of self-pity is that Doris laughs at him and ridicules him and he takes it well.

It would have been freakin' hilarious had she made the Sinatra gingerbread man skinnier than the others.

I do wish they'd shut up for, "Someone to Watch Over Me," that's one of my favorite songs.

Day and Sinatra both have such lovely phrasing. It's nice to hear both of them in this film. Their voices and styles are at once complimentary and unique.
