I love Ethel Barrymore's reactions as Aunt Jessie.
Such a subtle scene stealer. Not as over the top as May Robson could be.

How freakin obnoxious to be a house guest and tell everyone where to sit.
Aunt Jessie gets it, "may we start?" Love her.

I love Day's terrycloth monogramed beach top. The giant "L" is perfect 1950s.

An early call, Day outweighs Sinatra by a good ten pounds and maybe more.

Howard Shoup was good. He would truly hit his stride six years after this film. Beginning in 1960, he had five best costume Oscar nods in six years. He never won it, but he certainly had the eye.

Doris seems to be having a lot of fun filming these beach scenes.

Dorothy Malone is best at melodrama...you really do get a sense Fran is conflicted about being engaged to Bob by her reactions.

Back to Young's outfit - it's what a younger generation came to know as the "Mad Men" look. Looks like it inspired the TV show, especially in its early seasons.

Sinatra shows up at the 35 minute mark. With one heck of a great entrance.

I think Barney & Aunt Jessie could be a hit on the vaudeville circuit.
