Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry were a married songwriting team who wrote for some of the big 60's artists, but a demo they created for someone else got released by the label as The Raindrops and a "group" (Ellie double-tracked) was born.

Thanks for putting a name to the familiar instrumental, interpid37... Interestingly, neither Kai Winding's trademark trombone nor the licks of jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell are the featured instrument. Instead, a proto synthesizer, the exotic ondioline, was used to carry the melody. Speaking of Kenny Burrell, I haven't noticed jamesjazzguitar recently...

Here they are doing the same song on the Ed Sullivan show - I'm adding this video just so we can look at Michelle while she sings.
She was the most attractive female pop singer of the 60's in my opinion. I couldn't get enough of that fox.
