ABC kept preempting it and did not give the show the time it needed to establish itself today it is regarded as a classic even though it lacks Dan Curtis' horrificness it makes up for that deficit with the priceless comedic exchanges between kolchak and vincenzo and kolchak belittling Ron Updyke. the ep with Keenan Wynn as a police lieutenant trying to maintain his cool against kolchak is a priceless laugh riot. I have a suggestion for recasting kolchak...actor Tim Matheson. I think he could do it. he has handled both comedy and drama.

I try to stay up for my Saturday midnight showing of Kolchak: The Night Stalker. (the original) (often after watching Eddie Muller and Noir Alley on TCM).
