I am reading the play. It is a Project Gutenberg Canada title, which you can find here. That is the best way to do it as you can form your own images in your mind about how everything and everyone looks and, then, see the movie version. I agree. What I found to be so interesting was that all the while I was reading, I did just this, formed my own images -- except for that dang Myrna Loy. She was in my mind in spades, dammit!

You've encouraged me to read the play. I usually shy away from reading plays as, stupid as it is, I find them a bit awkward to read, but I think I'll give this one a go once I have an opening in my reading queue. I'm curious to see how it compares to the movie.

It's not very long, it doesn't have a giant cast or overblown stage direction....and it ain't Shakespeare (read: of high-falutin' speech there be'eth none).

Please join us tomorrow, February 25th, at 3pm ET / 1pm MT / 12pm PT for "The Animal Kingdom" to see Leslie Howard agonize over having to choose between Myrna Loy and Ann Harding, a decision most men would love to have to face.
I guess the throuple was too steep a concept even for the pre-code era - perhaps sublimated into many a bizarre love triangle. Speaking of which, I just watched To Mary – with Love (1936) because of all the lovely heart pictures you posted TB. Yowser.
Looking forward to this one. I think last time I saw it I was overly obsessed about viewing it with my totally irrational common sense lens that I trot out willy nilly and apply higgledy-piggledy.

Link to the movie on YouTube: "The Animal Kingdom" Plus he had to reject Vivien Leigh, forcing her to settle for Clark Gable. I agree with Scarlet O'Hara everytime I Look at him I get a little swooney and say, "Oh, Ashley!"

I hope you enjoyed TO MARY -- WITH LOVE. If we ever do a month of Myrna Loy melodramas, it would fit the theme perfectly, along with THE RAINS CAME.

The Continuing Adventures of Fawn and Me
Fawn: "Can you turn the volume up a bit?"
Me: "Sure, but with those large..."
Fawn [cutting me off]: "Don't go there."
Me: "I was just going to note the irony of..."
Fawn" [cutting me off again]: "Don't."
Me [after turning the volume up]: "Is that good?"
Fawn: "Yes, thank you."
Me: "So, I'm just curious..."
Fawn [cutting me off]: "Shall we talk about how slowly you run?"
Me: "Well..."
Fawn [cutting me off]: "Or your lack of fur, how don't you freeze?"
Me: "I was just..."
Fawn: "Or your insane need to put your food over a fire before eating it?"
(Fawn and I stare at each other for ten uninterrupted seconds)
Me: [in a forced lighthearted voice]: "I bought Sno-Caps."
Fawn: [also forced]: "I, uh, I got the popcorn."
They both hop up on the couch, and intently stare at the screen waiting for the movie to start.
Me: "Sorry."
Fawn: "Me too."

Must get around to jotting up a few comments but it may go bottoms like my Marion Davies episode. I saw many hidden messages and MUCH humour.
And it wasn't just the pictures that enticed I should have said - loved the review.
