Wagon Train obviously owes a debt to John Ford's WAGON MASTER (1950). Both featured Ward Bond. I didn't know about Wagon Master until a few weeks ago when I saw it on INSP T.V. station. Clearly Wagon Train followed in the foot steps of the Ford film.

Clearly Wagon Train followed in the foot steps of the Ford film. And interestingly, in the middle of season 4, John Ford directed an episode of Wagon Train that had John Wayne in a cameo at the end. It was one of the last episodes Ward Bond filmed before his untimely death. So it all came full circle.

M*A*S*H worked out pretty well THE NAKED CITY(1958-1963) and BROKEN ARROW(1956-1958) didn't do too bad either. Sepiatone

In 1964 ABC tried two shows based on "hit" movies. NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS starring Sammy Jackson(not Samuel) which lasted one season. And DESTRY starring John Gavin, lasting only 13 episodes from February to May. I thought they were pretty good. But then, I was 13 at the tme. Sepiatone

Sepia's mention of DESTRY made me think about Audie Murphy. He appeared in a TV series based on the old Alan Ladd western WHISPERING SMITH. It aired on NBC in 1961.

Would you say Bosom Buddies (1980-1982) took a page from Some Like It Hot? The story lines are different, of course, but the punchline is there.

I was watching 2 random eps. of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. The pilot which the first Captain was killed. Both had the same exact thing happen as a car was leaving a painter above put a white X on the car so the bad guys knew their target and both times the Admiral jumped out before the car went over a cliff. The second ep was called the X Factor.
