Posted with hope that jamesjazzguitar and sagebrush, et al. if applicable, continue to be safe from flooding in the SoCal area... Fortunately, there hasn't been anything near the catastrophic casualties seen in the following: The 1938 Los Angeles Flood delayed the 10th annual Academy Awards ceremony for a week. The late Irving Thalberg was posthumously present as The GOOD EARTH was recognized with a nomination for "Outstanding Production" and Darryl F. Zanuck received the inaugural Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. Zanuck went on to receive two more. (Eventually the honorary Oscar was limited to one.) He's seen here with his second in 1945:

Thanks, NoShear for caring. While we did get a lot of rain in the Orange County (around 5 inches), there was no major flooding in my area. Most of the flooding was in north L.A. county or in the San Diego area.

Here in Placer County of northern CA, most of the storm damage was power outage. I live in an apartment complex, and when power goes out to the duplexes and homes in my neighborhood, we are usually lucky enough to be able to somehow keep power. Not this time, though. The extremely high winds (coupled with heavy rainfall) knocked the power out mid-Sunday afternoon, and it was out until nearly noon the next day. Then, later that day, it again went out for another 6 hours. Schools in this area were closed for the day also for lack of electricity. I guess we were lucky, because I heard from a friend in San Jose, CA, who said they lost power on Monday evening, and it wasn't restored until Thursday!

L.A. Harbor here. We survived okay until that last night a deluge fell for about a half hour straight. Power went out for a bit. But, blue skies the next day.
