One of the TCM intros about Norma said that she had so much background in silent films that she unconsciously kept some of that flamboyant body language. I like it!

Love Montgomery's spectators and the woman's, who is worried about packing her sweater, drop-waist dress. It's all Jazz Age style hanging on into the early years of the Depression. I bet BunnyWhit loves seeing these clothes. (Also, love all the buttons on the sleeve of the dress of the woman Montgomery is dancing with.)

Check out all the ladies shoes! Lots of beautiful details to love. I think I'm a few minutes ahead so I'll pause for now....because some fabulous hats and coats are coming!

I thought that the movie took a little longer enjoying its pre-Code frivolity, but Conrad Nagel's scowl was already hinting of a different tone... Apparently not the first stink eye Nagel shot at Norma:

I'm not super familiar with Robert Z. Leonard's entire oeuvre, but based on the film titles I can remember I'm wondering if he directed much that wasn't melodrama.
