I just got an email from TCM announcing that the Now Playing newsletter, starting with January, will have a new format. (As I’ve been having trouble opening the monthly schedule in the old format, I’m hopeful that the new format may work better for me.)
Oddly, in the same email, TCM seemed to be making a big deal out of subscribers receiving Now Playing on the first of the month — which has always been the case with the electronic version.
But then, reading between the lines so to speak, I realized that they were actually saying that Now Playing will now be delivered only on the first of the month.
In other words, they seemed to be saying, without actually saying so, that they’re eliminating the regular second Now Playing email on the 15th of each month.
I’ll miss that second email. I’ve always found the email on the 15th useful, in that it reminds me of what to look for on TCM during the last half of the month. I guess in the future, I’ll have to get used to searching my inbox for the Now Playing email that came on the 1st.
(I’ve still never gotten over elimination of the print edition of Now Playing. I enjoyed it every month, reading the articles and scrutinizing the schedule. I just don’t enjoy the electronic version as much, although it’s certainly useful within its limitations.)

I also received that email and funny, the body of the email doesn't appear in my email, only the subject line. The new Now Playing is a mystery in my email.

I am disappointed, for the same reason you are (it's a good mid-month reminder), with them stopping the mid-month email. It's not a big deal, but I don't understand why as there's effectively no extra cost to sending one more email. Oh well.

I also received that email and funny, the body of the email doesn't appear in my email, only the subject line. The new Now Playing is a mystery in my email. Here’s the text from the body of the TCM email - unfortunately, I can’t seem to paste the graphics from it into this message:

Thanks Bingfan for letting me know what the email stated. Interesting that they included their mailing address while providing links to the web for other concerns. Are we considered all old people unable to use our computers other than to point and click?

I received the NOW PLAYING email, that is I got the TO and FROM, but no content again. I checked all my computer settings. I receive all other emails without problem, so I conclude the problem is on TCM side. Maybe not. I wait to find out if anyone reads mail in their CONTACT US file.

If it helps, my copy came through with no issues - I could see all the content/pics/links/etc. - but it felt "thinner" than in the past. I think TCM is really deemphasizing its monthly email, which is consistent with the fact that it just told us it wouldn't be sending a mid-month update.
