podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-plot-thickens/id1504732282"Our fifth season is Decoding John Ford, a seven-episode series about cinema's most mysterious auteur. Using scores of never-before-heard archival interviews, host Ben Mankiewicz strips back John Ford's self-spun mythology to reveal his brilliance behind the camera – alongside the often ugly, uncomfortable truths about his life and movies, asking whether we can ever truly separate art from the artist. Ben Mankiewicz is on the podcast Films to be Buried with www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-films-to-be-buried-with-w-31077271/episode/ben-mankiewicz-films-to-be-235444184/"Join your host Brett Goldstein as he talks life, death, love and the universe with the host of Turner Classic Movies and all round movie head BEN MANKIEWICZ! TCM is a channel that some non-US folk might not be familiar with, but for those who are it's an institution. Ben is a long term host at the channel, but has a huge amount of dealings elsewhere in the cinematic universe too. If that hasn't hooked you in, you might be keen to learn he is the grandson of the screenwriter of Citizen Kane who was the subject of the fairly recent movie 'Mank'. So you're in safe hands right here, essentially. Ben has a ton to say about a lot of movies that haven't been explored that much on the podcast, but it's also really interesting to hear about TCM and how it's affected his own life. A really fascinating guest for a truly engaging episode - enjoy!"

Ben was a very enthusiastic and engaging guest. As a TCM fan, it was fun to hear him discuss movies both classic and more recent. Ben and the host are obviously big film fans.
For anyone who is not familiar with this podcast, the host Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent on Ted Lasso) interviews people through a series of questions about movies and their life. Things like: What was the first movie you remember seeing? What is the film that people don’t like that you love? What's the film that means the most to you?
It was just what I needed after the election night hangover. Just a friendly engaging conversation about movies. Ben talks about the passionate and loyal fans of TCM. He mentions that he is honest with fans who cone up to him and ask about classic movies that he hasn't seen or doesn't remember. He turns it around and asks them why they like it or what they think. Ben had big shoes to fill following Robert Osborne but he clearly enjoys his role.
