I really appreciate the subtle touch of allowing Clem Miniver to show some alarm over the fast track of his son's training and possibly heading off to fight that night. Not sure that a British father would have been allowed even such small flinches. Walter does it to perfection.

The "small boats" armada building, getting its orders and heading off to Dunkirk is incredibly well done.

So much great trivia on the imdb: I didn't realize Greer Garson didn't want the part.
Norma Shearer would have worked... I think. Not a hard no at least. Something to ponder.
I always love to learn who said no or tried out.

She seems to dread Lady Beldon more than the German.

This one-on-one between Garson and Whitty is one of my favorite movie one-on-ones of all time. It's funny, but another of my favorites is Garson's one-on-one with Edna May Oliver in "Pride and Prejudice," but this Mrs. Miniver one is better.

I love it when Lady Beldon says: "I am old fashioned. I believe in breeding."
