Well at least if she spends all their money and has to take in laundry she has that handy clothesline at her throat.

You have to love the British car salesman's underselling technique. An American salesman would have been adding things on left and right with verve.

If I had ever said any of this stuff (or the 1980s American version) of what Vin is saying to his dad about college and "ideas" to my (maybe) high school graduate dad, he'd have shot me and gone back to eating his meal without batting an eye.

Per the AFI, production dates were November 1941 to February 1942, with additional scenes done in March 1942. Following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that brought the U.S. into the war, the garden scene was re-filmed to reflect the tough, new spirit of a nation at war. The key difference was that in the new version of the scene, filmed in February 1942, Mrs. Miniver was allowed to slap the pilot across the face. The film was released 4 months later.Interesting.

I love the way Wright smacks Ney all over the place in this conversation. The ref would have had to step in to stop the fight or Ney might have gotten hurt.

Vin's dialogue sounds communist in nature.
