TCM has posted a partial schedule for January, 2024. Robert Mitchum is Star of the Month, his 3rd time. Additional details are available at my schedule information page: escapepress.com/tcmsched/tcm_overview.htmlThe schedule is very preliminary and will be updated as information is provided.

Good selection. Three times isn't a lot for a star of his magnitude.
Hopefully they'll show HEAVEN KNOWS MR. ALLISON which I think is one of his best.

Hopefully they'll show HEAVEN KNOWS MR. ALLISON which I think is one of his best. I'm pretty sure it was the last time you mentioned "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison" that inspired me to watch it and, I agree, it is an excellent movie. I am really surprised it isn't better known.

HEAVEN KNOWS MR. ALLISON is my favorite Mitchum film! Hope they show 5 CARD STUD - 1968 western that Dean made with Mitchum. There are many TBA slots so I'm hoping they'll be filled in with some good ones.

I guess I'm one of those people that's not crazy about change - usually New Year's Eve on TCM schedule is filled with The That's Entertainment franchise followed at midnight with The Thin Man series. This year they did something . . . . different. Frankly, I miss Nick and Nora Charles!
Wishes for a good 2024!

While I'm all for change, the line-up for News Year's eve just didn't make any sense to me: farce comedies. As far as I know, Mel Brooks didn't die on New Year's Eve. Why not films like Repeat Performance and It's Love I'm After? Thus, I just put on Movies-TV since they were dancing in the New Year with Fred and Ginger films.

I read complaints about TCM 's NYE programming on reddit and FB. Some missed the Thin Man movies and That's Entertainment. Personally, I don't mind changing it up even though Spaceballs is not my cup of tea. People also complained when they showed the same programming every year. I liked the year they showed The Marx Bros movies or the year they did music movies and documentaries. How about having Eddie Muller host a noir NYE one year. Or maybe just show movies that have NYE scenes? Anyway, I'm just glad TCM is still around for us to debate their programming!

My favorite New Year's Eve programming on TCM was the year they showed a whole day of Sherlock Holmes films. These titles had just been restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive, so they were a cut above some of the poor public domain copies available to the masses.
