My favorite musical is probably SINGIN' IN THE RAIN. I know I'm not really thinking outside the box here, but it's just such an enjoyable "comfort film" that I always look forward to watching it again.
I've always gotten a kick out of GREASE.
In the early 2000s I was quite enamored with the Nicole Kidman-Ewan MacGregor version of MOULIN ROUGE! I haven't seen it in over ten years, so I wonder if it still holds up and whether or not I'd enjoy it if I were to re-watch it.

Singin' in the Rain is also my choice. However, I really enjoy the pre-code musicals, Footlight Parade (those 3 numbers are amazing and James Cagney's presence elevates the film) and Golddiggers of 1933. And I have to throw in an Astaire/Rogers film, and I'll go with Top Hat.

Don’t know if I have a favorite but the Hair movie Soundtrack is probably my favorite to listen to/sing along with! Hair is a good one, underrated. My pick: A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum (1966)

My favorite is Li'l Abner (1959). \ I love Li'l Abner. The movie is great and has most of the cast from the Broadway original, apart from Daisy Mae and a few others. The sets seems pretty much as they were in the stage show as well. I saw a revival of it at New York City Center in 1998. Julie Newmar reprised her original role of Stupefyin' Jones, at the age of 66! One of my favorite shows -- though I only know it from the cast recording -- is Tenderloin, Bock and Harnick's musical after Fiorello! and before She Loves Me and Fiddler on the Roof. Tenderloin was about the NYC red light district in the 1890. One of the songs became a hit (in an uptempo version) for Bobby Darin. One of my favorites songs is "How the Money Changes Hands," in which a prostitute tries to explain to a preacher (played by Maurice Evans) how the economics of prostitution work:
