Today marks the 100th anniversary of the release of "Pleasure Mad".
This was the movie where Norma Shearer, career under-pressure aware of the significance of failing a director who was giving her rough going, was scolded by Louis B. Mayer in an effort to bring out the fight he presumably saw was in Shearer. Shearer responded in kind to a pleased Mayer and found the proverbial road to success to be much smoother from there on out.
