Whenever I see it on the schedule I remember Nipkowdisc's reminder to us that a few seconds are missing from the usual cut - the more grisly seconds of Dracula's face being afflicted by the acid-like burning - that was in the original theatrical cut. And I always watch to see if that's been added back yet - but it never is.

I missed the airing--I wonder if will be on TCM on Demand? I have only seen the 1931 version, which I thought March was fantastic in. However, I can imagine Barrymore giving him a run for his money.

Sunday/Monday 12:30am ET on Silent Sunday Nights: THE SHOW (1927) Stars John Gilbert, Renee Adoree, and Lionel Barrymore. Directed by Tod Browning. I think John Gilbert's best performances were in the films in which Greta Garbo did not star. Here he plays an unlikable womanizer and Ballyhoo Man at a carnival.

And so he fares better with less "iconic" actresses like Renee Adoree?

It's hard not to get overshadowed by Garbo, though; she was so luminous. In my opinion, the characters he played in the films they made together were mostly one dimensional matinée idols, the exception being FLESH AND THE DEVIL, and maybe that was because he had another male co-star in that film (Lars Hanson.)

THE CHEATERS (1945) Really enjoyable, lesser known Christmas film from Republic Pictures starring Joseph Schildkraut, Eugene Pallette, Billie Burke, and Ona Munson. Did I mention really enjoyable already?
