How weird. I see promos of Alicia for Imports. She says she hosts and before the film is played, as in Sunday's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST the TCM header bit before the film says Alicia hosts. Not presents, but hosts. Yet she has no intro. Maybe someday she will do intros. I dislike this kind of sloppiness by any company. Until Alicia does intros for Imports, stop the promos and change the header before the film stating she is our host.

When the cutbacks happened and staff were let go, Spielberg et al. stepped in and secured a reversal on some of the things which were eliminated. They may be resurfacing at different rates, so that the promos actually were completed before Alicia was able to get her intros filmed. But you're right, it's not a good look for a network that used to pride itself on being at the top of their game.

I've noticed the same thing (sometimes Alicia introduces the films and sometimes not) and hope, as I love Melvin says, it's a "timing" thing that will be fixed. While some are not to my taste, I love that TCM does "Imports" as I'd never find these often great movies on my own.

For many years, TCM has typically scheduled 2 films for TCM Imports late on Sunday evenings. As long as I can remember, TCM has been consistent in only providing an introduction and wrap-up for the first of the 2 films. This has been true for the recent period where Alicia Malone is the host of TCM Imports, as well as the prior period when Ben was the host. For example, last Sunday Alicia did an introduction and wrap-up for Orpheus (1950) but did not do an introduction for the 2nd film Beauty and the Beast (1946). Usually there is some theme that connects the 2 films, so the host will mention the 2nd film in their introduction for the first film.
After the TCM layoffs back in June, for a time TCM cut the wrap-ups that Alicia and Dave were doing, so the wrap-ups for the TCM Imports first film were eliminated in June, July and August. But these have been reinstated now, for the introductions that both Dave and Alicia provide.
When TCM airs the 2nd film for TCM Imports, they first show the same very brief musical intro with the caption “hosted by Alicia Malone”, even though Alicia never does an intro for the second film. With the tight TCM cost constraints, they haven’t bothered to make a different TCM Imports marker for the 2nd film, so it gives the impression that Alicia is going to do another intro. I agree that this is misleading.
With the rebranding that TCM did many months ago now, the musical introductions for the different showcases (Noir Alley, Silent Sunday Nights, TCM Imports) have been streamlined. Some of us miss the theme music and longer introductions they used to show. I assume someone at TCM wants them to get on with it and start the introductions as soon as possible. The Noir Alley theme has recently been streamlined even more so they play just a few notes before Eddie comes on. It’s almost comical if you remember the original Noir Alley theme at the beginning of the series.
