Roy Thinnes was a long-time TV actor who attempted to headline series from time to time. Although The Invaders may be the closest he ever came to a successful series (it had cult popularity at least), he also did some regular work on Falcon Crest, The Long Hot Summer, The Psychiatrist and General Hospital. He was even a regular on the 1980's series From Here to Eternity which also featured the likes of Kim Basinger, Don Johnson, and Barbara Hershey. I suppose in a sense, having Thinnes in the cast was kind of the kiss of death for a series - none of them made it past a single season (except for, of course, General Hospital, which was little more than a starting job for most actors). The Invaders actually managed to make it to 2 seasons. But Thinnes has spent pretty much his entire career guest starring on other people's series and making the odd made-for-tv movie. I believe The Norliss Tapes was intended to be another series for him but didn't get picked up.

Gale Storm had a couple of successful ones in the 1950's. First, My Little Margie (1952-1955), with Charles Farrell as her father. It even got to be a successful comic book franchise; when I went looking for images, half of them were of comic book covers. The second was The Gale Storm Show (1956-1960), later syndicated as Oh! Susanna. She played Susanna Pomeroy, the social director on a cruise ship, and ZaSu Pitts played Elvira Nugent ("Nugie"), the cosmetician (?). It also engendered a comic book adaptation. I remember that whenever she got in trouble (all the time) the Captain would bellow: " Miss Pomeroy!"

Ann Sothern was in a few hit shows. First, there was Private Secretary then The Ann Sothern Show. This was followed by a recurring role on The Lucy Show and a voice role on My Mother the Car.
Speaking of Lucy costars...there's Gale Gordon. He appeared on Our Miss Brooks and Dennis the Menace (replacing Joseph Kearns). Then he joined the cast of The Lucy Show. This was followed by a regular role on Here's Lucy. And he teamed up with Lucille Ball one last time for Life with Lucy.
Another actor who appeared in plenty of TV shows: Dennis Weaver. He started with a supporting role on Gunsmoke. Then he starred in Kentucky Jones and Gentle Ben. A few years later he was McCloud. In the 1980s he starred on Emerald Point N.A.S. and Buck James.

James Garner:
Maverick (57 -62). Nichols (71 - 72). RockFord (74 - 80). Bret Maverick (81 - 82).
Streets of Laredo (1995 TV miniseries). Chicago Hope (end of series in 1999). 8 Simple Rules (2003 - 2005).
Of course, during all that time, Garner was featured in a lot of first-rate movies.
I think it can be said that he was one of, if not the most, successful film\TV actor in the USA.

Handsome Robert Fuller was in three T.V. series: Laramie 59 - 63, Wagon Train (63 - 65). Fuller played a similar role in both of these westerns.
Next was Emergency, where he played a much different character; A medical doctor\surgeon. This ran from 72 - 77.
PS: Fuller is still with us and just turned 90 in July. Funny but I was watching Laramie today and the sheriff had his father with him, and his father ends up helping by shooting one of the bad-guys. Fuller asked the sheriff "who is that old man?". The sheriff said "my 84 year old father". Fuller says "I can only hope I'm still around when I get to that age". I say "hey Robert you did!!!!".
