Just not getting how Stella Stevens qualifies for SUTS. Seems to me there are many others who should have qualified ahead of her. (OK, now beat me up!) You're not wrong. People felt the same way last year about Raquel Welch getting a SUTS day.

Any particular actors that you all are aware of that have not yet been featured on Summer Under the Stars?

Fun Fact about tomorrow's SUTS honoree, Jackie Cooper: He is the first member of Our Gang to have a SUTS day.

Since she passed away earlier this year, I think it's TCM's way of giving her a Memorial Tribute. Chances are they wouldn't have selected her otherwise.

I assume one major reason is that she just passed away on February 17th of this year. While I tend to agree with you that she was mostly a supporting character actor, don't we wish for TCM to highlight such actors during SUTS instead of just stars?

Any particular actors that you all are aware of that have not yet been featured on Summer Under the Stars? A lot of the big moneymakers from Universal haven't had a day in August. These include Audie Murphy, Yvonne DeCarlo, Deanna Durbin, Dan Duryea, Jeff Chandler and Robert Stack.
Also, they show Margaret Sullavan's MGM films but not her Universal films. Since she did not make a lot of films, to give her a full day in August, they'd have to borrow her Universal titles which they have not done.

Although, I guess it makes sense if TCM doesn't have the rights to many of their films.

Although, I guess it makes sense if TCM doesn't have the rights to many of their films. They can get the rights if they cough up the dough. But I am sure there is a budget imposed on Summer Under the Stars programming. So what they usually do, if they try to include stars whose careers were largely outside MGM/WB/RKO (the titles in the Turner Library) is they pick people like Bob Hope, Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray or Rock Hudson whose careers were long enough that after they left their home studios (Paramount/ Universal) they had enough freelance titles with other studios, plus some loan outs to MGM/WB/RKO during the peak of their career. This way TCM doesn't exactly have to lease a lot of things from outside the Turner Library. Even when they featured Abbott & Costello, they broadcast some of the duo's Universal titles, but made sure to include every title the guys did at MGM and WB on loan out.
I really don't know why they haven't done a day for Margaret Sullavan. Half her work was at MGM, so it's not like a whole day in August would consist of titles outside the Turner Library. And she really does deserve a day-long tribute.

I can honestly say I never thought of Anthony Perkins as beautiful. But I did appreciate his versatile talent. But I do understand some women might have found him attractive. Sepiatone Only some women? Perkins is a gay icon. You're forgetting that for many years, millions of women used to drool over Rock Hudson. But guess what? Sepiatone

I don't see any problem with Stella Stevens having a day.
Any star who made as many movies over as many years should easily qualify.

Sepiatone I wasn't questioning if some women drooled over Perkins (or Hudson): Of course, that was the case. I was questioning why you only mentioned women since many men also here drawn to both of these very handsome men.

Perkins is a gay icon. He's a homosexual icon now. But in the late 50's he was featured in many teen and movie mags as a dreamy young star to the girls. I remember one magazine with a headline like "Girl Fans Moving from James Dean to Tony Perkins". And Perkins actually had a couple of pop records on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959/60.
