Poor Duke.
"Who's that guy in the dark suit? The undertaker? Make him wait outside."

I love John Halliday's voice.
He's been in a few of our selections, notably THE HOUSE ON 56TH STREET (1933) and PETER IBBETSON (1935).

Arline Judge earns her pay at the 59 minute mark. She does a great job with the speech about right and wrong.

This hospital scene is a bit obvious, but it's nice to see everyone changing as a result of the accident. Even the obdurate dad is having second thoughts.
Dora with a powerful speech. "What if you're wrong!" Go Dora.

Such a poignant ending, with hope for the older couple.
Loved it.

Loved it. I love it and, yes, that hope for the older couple is great.

I saw it last about two years ago, but didn't remember how powerful Dora's speech is. It's funny what you can forget. She owns the movie with that one speech.

"Spring Madness" is up next guys.
It's a good movie, but I won't kid you, the last two movies this month are the best.

It was really good, so many times the story took a turn I wasn't expecting. I'm so glad Dora didn't have to marry someone who would resent her forever.

Yeah, she steals the film from the other young stars. It's interesting to see how the four of them (Wilson, Judge, Cromwell and Linden) dramatically pull out the stops at the end.
I wonder what it was like for young 20-somethings watching the film during its first release in the summer of 1933. Did it resonate with contemporary viewers?

I've never read anything to that effect, but I have read a lot of books and newspapers from the era and I'd bet it did as it was a big issue at the time for obvious reasons. Heck, there was still a hint of that mindset hanging on in the 1980s.
