Watching Game 5 of the 7 game series tonight. It's tied at 2-2. Phillies are my favorites, mostly because I grew up in the Delaware Valley (Trenton), but I'm a die-hard Mets fan. Can't really root for Houston although when my sister lived in Beaumont, TX we often went to Astros games (back in the Biggio/Bagwell/Bergman Killer B days). It's been a fairly even series, each team dominating on alternate nights. The first game was the most competitive and reminds me of tonight's match, which is tied at 1 at the top of the 3rd as I type this. Phillies' Noah Syndergaard (former Met) is looking very sharp vs. Stros' Justin Verlander, who keeps pitching out of base runner trouble. Should be a good finish!

7th Inning stretch
Stros' rookie shortstop (and Gold Glove Winner, 1st for a rookie SS), Jeremy Peña, makes it 2-1, Houston.

That was a hard loss for the Phillies, because as you noted, they now need to take two in a row from the Astros in Houston.

That was a hard loss for the Phillies, because as you noted, they now need to take two in a row from the Astros in Houston. They weren't playing with their characteristic goofiness. Way too serious. When teams are that tight they're hoping not to lose, not playing to win. Stros were loose and ready to head back to Houston victorious. Mentality is a big part of the game. But the Phils are resilient. And I believe their gung-ho attitude which took them from from the bottom of the NL East to the World Series will come back. Even in Texas.

Tonight may be the night that the Astros win it - or can Philly prevail to a Game 7? Some stats on Astros skipper, Dusty Baker, who has the most wins among managers who have not won the World Series:

Glad we snagged him but, geez, Senga must be intimidating on the mound...

Wasn't sure at the beginning of the off season but Mets are a better team than they were last season. Still some questions but every team has questions. If all goes smoothly you should be able to compete with anybody. Stay healthy and good luck next season.

And now Correra.. Correra??? This signing would put them over the top. The 400m payroll helps! Not a done deal but it would benefit both sides so I'm thinking this deal will get done.

I'm a Dodger fan and I don't know if next year will be so good for the team. Right now the San Diego Padres have the better roster. Dodger are spending 22 million on Trevor Bauer, who they just released (and thus another team can pick him and only play 750K in salary). Speculation is the Astros will pick up Bauer since their reputation is already tarnished.

They gonna have Mookie back for the playoffs? My Mets (and Yanks, who did clinch) are still gunning for a spot. But I’ve enjoyed watching Baltimore this season. Because I play fantasy and have a number of Orioles in my lineups, I’ve seen an unusually inordinate number of Baltimore games (for a Yankee fan).
