Always interesting to see the list for SOTM. I wonder, are any of them new? My first reaction is ...undewhelming.

This is always my favorite month of programming. What we have is a good list, plenty of variety, with the household names dominating, but a few pleasant surprises thrown in. I'm particularly pleased to see a day devoted to Stella Stevens. She had a primetime spotlight a few years ago, but has never been honored before during SUTS.
Also, I don't think the Nicholas Brothers ever had a day before. And Rhonda Fleming seems like a "first timer." Katy Jurado, Geraldine Chaplin and John Carradine seem like SUTS "newbies" too.

It's surprising that they haven't featured Anthony Perkins or Loretta Young more.
And the fact that Bob Hope has never been Star of the Month is a bit mind-boggling!

Of course I'm disappointed that Dean Martin isn't on the list - but of course that's my opinion. I think by now you know how I love Dean! I am glad to see Stella Stevens on there also. It's a nice tribute since she recently passed away.
Is it just me or is this an incomplete schedule? Aren't some time slots missing?

It's a nice tribute since she recently passed away. Is it just me or is this an incomplete schedule? Aren't some time slots missing? There is still quite a bit missing in the August schedule. If you look at the ‘At-A-Glance’ overview for August, places where there are missing titles or gaps in the schedule are marked by ‘TBA’ (To Be Announced). When TCM first releases a schedule, it appears that they hold back on announcing titles from other studios where they have to make special arrangements to lease them for broadcast. TCM has easy access to classic Warner, MGM, and RKO titles so these are normally included in the schedule right away. Eventually they do fill in the complete schedule, usually no later than 3-4 weeks ahead of time. I periodically check for changes to the TCM schedule, and I update the documents on my website accordingly.

I've been keeping an eye on the SUTS schedule for updates. I'm over the moon to see a Dean Martin movie on Stella Stevens Day. Her and Dean made two films together. How To Save A Marriage And Ruin Your Life (1968) is on the schedule! It's a fun romantic comedy.
I'm also pleased to see Heaven Knows Mr. Allison (1957) added to Deborah Kerr's day. Her and Robert Mitchim play well together in this movie. That is one of those films on my personal list that TCM has not aired in ages. Glad to see it was added to the schedule!

The first thing I noticed about the schedule was how much variety was thrown in. The "popular kids" of TCM need to step aside once in awhile.
Happy to see Anthony Perkins, Rhonda Fleming, Ann Sheridan, Carole Lombard, Jackie Cooper, and Paul Newman honored.
Interesting fact: Jackie Cooper is the first member of Our Gang to have a SUTS day.

I want to add an updated thought to my previous post. On Stella Stevens Day - I checked and saw that the TBA film is now the second movie that she did with Dean Martin - The Silencers 1966 film. It was the first of 4 Matt Helm films that Dean made.
In these 4 movies, Matt Helm is the American version of James Bond. There are the gadgets and women, but done with that sense of humor that Dean has.
