Guess that could be a theme, too. Just noticed he was in both movies. I didn't watch, so I don't know. I've often assumed programming was going to be about a certain thing, and then it wasn't.

Primetime July 3 The Road Movies I have no idea what the rights issue is with Road to Rio, but it's not airing ... again, for the one billionth time in a row Road to Singapore (Bing Crosby, Bob Hope) (Paramount, 1940) Road to Zanzibar (Bing Crosby, Bob Hope) (Paramount, 1941) Road to Morocco (Bing Crosby, Bob Hope) (Paramount, 1942) Road to Utopia (Bing Crosby, Bob Hope) (Paramount, 1946) Road to Bali (Bing Crosby, Bob Hope) (Paramount, 1953)
Late Night July 4 movies begin. There are a couple of documentaries, then this one. I don't remember. Does it take place during July 4? Small Town Girl (Jane Powell, Farley Granger) (MGM, 1953)

Both versions, based on the same play, share an amazing amount of dialogue, so it is an excellent opportunity to see how different actors interpret the same role. I'm partial to the '33 version, but both are enjoyable movies.
"Come Fly with Me" is a fun (not great) 1960s "Jet Age" soap opera (you can feel "Mad Men" in it) very loosely based on the much-more-fun book "The Fly Girls" (comments on the book here: "The Fly Girls")

Daytime July 4 It's 4th of July (or at least Americana) Musicals. Yankee Doodle Dandy is also the Musical Matinee on July 1. It's been a long time since I've updated this, so I don't remember for sure, but I think it becomes the first non-Noir Alley movie to air twice in the month. Yankee Doodle Dandy (James Cagney, Joan Leslie) (Warner Bros., 1942) Take Me Out to the Ballgame (Gene Kelly, Esther Williams) (MGM, 1949) On the Town (Gene Kelly, Ann Miller) (MGM, 1949) Annie, Get Your Gun (Betty Hutton, Howard Keel) (MGM, 1950) Millon Dollar Mermaid (Esther Williams, Victor Mature) (MGM, 1952) Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Jane Powell, Howard Keel) (MGM, 1954)

I wish they'd show STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER (1952) on the 4th of July. It's one of my favorite Fox musical biopics.

Lovely film with a perfect cast, though I want to single out Helen Flint, who is great in the bit part of a floozy named Belle.
