I can't tell if this is a book I need. Has anyone perused a copy per chance? Google preview makes me think it is a bit too in depth for my requirements. I want one that is more of a simple listing of songs or artists. Something along the lines of Movies on TV by Steven H. Scheuer would suit: not afraid to include esoteric films, many oddities and rarities; opinions often at variance with standard wisdom; If you know of such a resource, please advise. The Encyclopedia of Musicians and Bands on Film (2016)What makes this resource so strikingly useful and unique is the interweaving of music and the cinematic narrative arc for each entry. Not a simple listing of songs or artists, this is a comprehensive look at films whose storytelling is of and through music. The appendixes, making up one-fifth of the book, are extensive and invaluable. Films by country, director’s who’s-who, genre, and made-for-television films are just a few. Essential for both specialized and general library reference collections. ― American Reference Books Annual www.amazon.ca/Encyclopedia-Musicians-Bands-Film/dp/1442269863

The Beatles And India (2021)
The Beatles and India explores the band's three-year immersion in Indian culture. It demonstrates "the India part of the Beatles saga" was more substantial than merely the group's sojourn in Rishikesh and their studying Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This documentary was surprising interesting, touching and inspirational - after I got over my initial impulse to hit eject. It was hard coming to the realization there wasn't going to be any Beatles music but we all know that can be complicated and expensive. I enjoyed the interviews, photos, old footage and the DVD extra with a current day tour of the Ashram. The Beatles And India - Official Trailer

Instead of a book about bands on film, I'd rather have copies of the films on some sort of medium like tape or disc. Maybe a compilation of "pre-fame" films. Like;

Not sure just what you're after here. Would perhaps something like THE T.A.M.I. SHOW fit the bill?

Not sure just what you're after here. Would perhaps something like THE T.A.M.I. SHOW fit the bill? Sepiatone TV appearances are a whole other ball of wax. I would love to have all of them - every terribly painful lip sync, all of it. At this point I am just worried I may be missing out on appearances in major motion pictures. Clips like Donovan in "If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium" Boy was I thrilled when I found this one on VHS many moons ago! I saw him play a couple of shows at the Ontario Place Forum. I thought>>> I <<<< was a fan: there was a woman there with her young son, called Donovan. Oh my! The stage spun around while the artists played making it a bit disorientating when it came time to find the exit, especially after a few glasses of red wine which he imbibed. The Sorcerers (1967) Boris Karloff, Ian Ogilvy and Susan George. An aging hypnotist creates a device that allows the user to control the mind of another person Lee Grant and the Capitols - opening song Toni Daly with Lee Grant and the Capitols - Sweet Nothing This one could just as easily be filed under movies we are ashamed to love I suppose. I don't know that Lee Grant & the Capitols lasted but Toni (Baxter) switched to jazz and was working up until her death in 2016. Sweet Nothing - Toni Daly with Lee Grant and the Capitols Lee Grant and the Capitols - opening song We used a Rolls to pick up Mr. Karloff every morning and take him to work, then we'd take the trunk lid off and use it for a stable camera car for the chase scenes through London. Again, without permits. An interesting fact is that this film was produced by CURTWEL and TIGON Productions. CURTWEL was a company owned by Raquel Welch, the WEL in CURTWEL, and her husband, me, the CURT in CURTWEL. Tony Tenser and I went on to produce, HANNIE CAULDER, starring Raquel as a deadly gunslinger in this western directed by Burt Kennedy. -- Patrick Curtis, the producer of "The Sorcerers. A surprisingly touching movie
amazing scenes from within the 'the screaming apple discotheque' where the pretty things hold court blasting out two great psychedelic songs 'eagles son & blow your mind'....norman wisdom stars as a mild mannered bank manager unhappy with life..meeting 'hippie' girl sally gleason he experiences a change in his outlook...the pretties here are : phil may/dick taylor/jon povey/wally waller & john (twink) alder....
'' the pretty things '' - from what's good for the goose 1969.

Speaking of the "interweaving of the music and the cinematic narrative arc", I'm not sure why Antonioni thought it was essential to get the Yardbirds involved in a mini-drama about the speakers and feedback. He also seemed more interested in showing off the cool kids and his star than the band. You've got The Yardbirds, for Pete's sake; let them do their thing. Blow Up (1966).

If I correctly recall reading, I Love Melvin, Antonioni originally envisioned the WHO in the Ricky-Tick sequence which eventually evolved into to the Yardbirds scene. The auto-destruction element to it may have had some reality beyond pose as Jeff Beck was said to have been given to onstage temper tantrums at one point.
