Great scene between March and Calhern. Two schemers at heart. I had a boss years ago who would say, "There's not one honest bone between the two of them."

Great scene between March and Calhern. Two schemers at heart. And March's extra little ballet with leaving the door ajar just so allowing Mr. Short Seller to hear about SEC investigation was it...dastardly.

Love that scene with Allyson as catcher. Me too! When he was about five my son taught me how to catch when his dad wasn't around. The ball kept hitting my glove and falling to the ground, I remember him saying, "Squeeze it Mom. Squeeze it!"

So let's say, for a moment, that March got the presidency. What's the worst that would happen? Would he try to oust Holden and Pidgeon? They're too valuable to lose. Would things really be terrible if March took over?

The point is he doesn't "feel" the company or furniture or the employees in his bones; he's just a super calculator who would manage to the balance sheet while taking the soul out of the business.

Okay, yes, I would agree with that.

Would things really be terrible if March took over? It would be a big win for lovers of sawdust & pressboard furniture at least.
Who knew I could get weepy when we looked at the photo of the old lux settee.
He might fire sale the whole place too and move on to his next night school CPA scheme.

Shelley Winters is having fun with her role, in these scenes with Paul Douglas.

As Topbilled noted earlier, they are doing an incredible job of building up to "the big meeting."

I love that Nina Foch, as the perfectly named Erica Martin, wears a pen around her neck. Somebody is still crushing on her.

In the late 70s, MGM created a night time soap opera based on the book/movie. It lasted one season...it was clobbered in the ratings by The Rockford Files.
Subplots included interracial relationships, lesbianism and pornography.
Mitchell Ryan had Holden's role.

As a young boy in the '70s, I religiously watched the super-cool "The Rockford Files," never even knew anything else was on at the same time. Rockford was that cool.

Yay for Shelley! I loved seeing her stand up for herself.
