In watching old reruns of TV shows from bygone days one might spot a familiar face or two. Some of them known from being in the cast of hit TV shows sometime after the show you saw them in was first broadcast.
My first example(with more probably coming) happened this morning, when watching an episode of HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL from 1958 which had MOREY AMSTERDAM cast as a saloon/theater owner who booked a well known husband and wife acting couple in his joint. The couple were played by VINCENT PRICE and PATRICIA MORISON. Of course, this was three years before Amsterdam would show up cast as BUDDY SORELL in THE DICK VAN DYKE show in 1961.
I knew Morey Amsterdam had done a few movie roles before the Van Dyke show, but never really recall seeing him cast in television shows as a guest before.
Who have any of you here seen in this way?

An episode of The Big Valley features young Richard Dreyfuss as the son of Diane Ladd. He actually has a sizable role, as a teen delinquent that ends up in jail. Of course the Barkley family help out.

Robert Redford showed up in a TWILIGHT ZONE episode with Gladys Cooper. He was Death and she was a woman trying to avoid him. Redford was also in a PERRY MASON episode.

Of course the Barkley family help out. I also recall seeing Dreyfuss in an old episode of GUNSMOKE not too long ago. But looking it up the episode aired the same year Dreyfuss also did AMERICAN GRAFFITI and DILLINGER('73). So he did certainly believe in getting exposure. Sepiatone

I also recall seeing Redford in an old ALFRED HITCHCOCK episode. I do believe he did several TV spots in the early to mid '60's. Sepiatone

Last night on TALES OF WELLS FARGO was an episode from 1961 that had JACK NICHOLSON among the cast. One year after his role in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. And likely paid scale for it.

that reminds me-Jack Nicholson on an ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. He was defendant in a theft trial. Aunt Bee on the jury is the holdout to convict him.

I miss Jack. I hope he is ok.
I finally got up the nerve to watch The Two Jakes and it was fine. I enjoyed it.
He was right to fight against Chinatown flashback footage. I wish they had made the third movie in the series.

Sepiatone I saw that also. Jack was good in how he played his character. Have you noticed how season 5 (the last one), is done differently than the prior seasons? E.g. less serious, more sarcasm, jokes and silliness. E.g., the episode about fighter John L. Sulivan bordered on camp and no one was shot. The last few episodes are one-hour and in color. I'm hoping INSP shows these.

Oh, yeah. John L. Sullivan. Boy, did Vito Scotti and Claude Akins show they had range in that one? Or what... Sepiatone

Sepiatone Funny but when I read in my cable write-up that the story was about Sullivan I wondered what actor would be playing him: I was surprised it was Akins since he wasn't really a really big guy, which is unusually the type of actor that is cast for Sullivan. Both Scotti and Akins were funny and held their own, but Robertson \ Hardie wasn't really needed in this one.

Y'know, James Franciscus could possibly pass for Redford's older but shorter brother. Sepiatone

Last night's Gunsmoke episode "the Killer" featured CHARLES BRONSON as a kill crazy gunman named Crego. But it wasn't Bronson's only appearance on the show. In another episode he played a mild mannered rancher who befriends a young teen boy to the chagrin of the boy's abusive father.
