Van Heflin is thinking "what the h*ll have I gotten myself into."

These two men will not be hanging out together at the country club anytime soon.

A bit of false concern about Briggs' stomach troubles (meant to imply ulcers?)...

Poor Mr. Briggs, not enough of a yes man. I think Marge was upset because she's fallen in love with him over the years. Or maybe I've seen too many romance movies.

I like how Staples casually finds out that he's been given Briggs' former secretary.

So is the company providing their housing? They act like they didn't choose any of this.

My girlfriend: What is your new secretary's name?
Me: I didn't catch it, we were too busy having sex.
My girlfriend: You're an idiot.
I don't think Brigg's wife would have chuckled at that comment.

So is the company providing their housing? They act like they didn't choose any of this. Back in that day - owing, in part, to taxes - that did happen for those at the top of the firm.

Love Van Heflin's collar pin hanging casually. It's a very busy "business executive" look.

Yes, that's what I thought. I had a job in South Korea for 18 months, 6 months in Seoul and 12 months in Busan. Part of the contract I signed meant they would provide me a furnished apartment. But this also meant I would make a bit less in salary, since this was considered a substantial perk and eliminated some of my monthly living expenses.

The original television production featured Richard Kiley as Staples, opposite Begley & Sloane.

Wow, a lot of women probably weren't too happy about that. I've only seen the house bought and furnished like that in "The Firm."
I liked it though, back when big spraling houses only had one car garages.
