When I lived in West Hollywood from 2003 to 2004, there was an old house down the street from me that had once belonged to a long-dead silent film star. The Actors Studio group had taken it over, and they converted what I presume was an old garage/stable into a theater.
Two to three times a year, there would be a play staged in the theater, that was open to members and select public with a reception afterward inside the main house.
I would see a lot of young actors, people like my neighbor, that were getting bit parts in movies or on TV shows, but hadn't broken through to stardom or at least more substantial roles.
Interestingly, there were also people I recognized from old television shows or movies, people that hadn't worked in front of the camera for awhile, that were trying to make a comeback...
Around the corner from this Actors Studio location, was a gym on Sunset Boulevard...
I am so sorry to interrupt. I am loving these memories...but... I can't be the only one thoroughly distracted by some of your references TB And given not a stretch from your photo to a young Joe Gillis... an old house down the street what I presume was an old garage/stable open to members and select public people I recognized from old television shows or movies

The old silent film star's home that has been taken over by the Actors Studio is the house that was owned and lived in by William S. Hart. The grounds around the main house and theater have been turned into a public park where people walk their dogs.
Go to this site to see how it looks today. The theater is in back behind the house.

If you scroll down and read the article under the photo, there is a section about the Actors Studio West.

If you scroll down and read the article under the photo, there is a section about the Actors Studio West. [Gym is a word I frequently block from my mind, heart, body & soul] I believe you mentioned the William S. Hart House earlier but of course because I cannot work a search button, I can't find it. That article is a great read. A stunning house. LA may have taken no interest but at least they didn't tear it down. Actors Studio West - Current Leadership Co-Presidents - very interesting. Ellen Burstyn, Alec Baldwin, Al Pacino Now back to your regularly scheduled Henry Brandon thread with 1000 apologies for steering this way off topic.
