Even without all the stuff stirred up by politics these days, life can sometimes seem daunting, sometimes maybe even ugly. Music has always been the one thing which can reliably decompress me, so I thought I'd create a stress-free zone as a mini-retreat for anyone in the mood for it. The classical thread is therapeutic that way, but I think there's room for popular music which moves or comforts us on the one hand, or maybe helps explain things to us in a helpful way on the other. Anyway, I know I need it in my life so I thought others might too.

I agree that music can be a balm for the conflicted soul. But it seems very few people actually wish to live in peace. Here’s to those who do -

I agree with you, I Love Melvin. I have turned my playlists on while I go about my day and music that you love calms you and takes you away. I also love gardening for that same reason - it's calming and seems to give me a sense of peace. Here are a couple of my favorites that add tranquility to my day - yes, of course, from Dean Martin - Mr. smooth himself!
Dean sings 'Home' from his album 'The Dean Martin TV Show' 1966.
Dean sings 'Sleep Warm' title track from his album 'Sleep Warm' 1958. I often listen to this tune before I go to bed.

On the same wavelength...Judy never did a studio recording of this Charlie Chaplin song, but there are a couple of live versions out there.

Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. Orchestral arrangements can be great, but I prefer to hear it performed by a quartet or ensemble.
It is the sound of joy.

A nice treatment of the James Taylor song.

And an unusual treatment of a Brian Wilson song by a boy choir. They performed this live at Brian's Kennedy Center Honors tribute.

Music has charms to soothe a savage beak. Dedicated to the glorious songbirds singing us through our days. And their *grape (*and or blueberry) feeding protectors.
