I hear about it often now for car gasoline. Interesting. I think switching to summer oil used to be more of a thing than it is now. Motor oils have been developed a lot since 1939, and automobile thermostats as well. But some people who live where it gets really cold will still switch summer/winter oil. Light weight in the winter allows for a better turnover. Still, I'm sure there are some who still do it because their dads and granddads did it.
