Father did know for a while his daughter was "seeing" the playboy of the western world.
He thought they were playing Pinochle?

He really doesn't want to marry her. This movie doesn't sell out to the easy romantic angle.

This quick little marriage/honeymoon montage is a good example of RKO editing.

I like the way he says "We'll discuss the details," with such distaste. He is such a good actor he makes all his lines sound so natural.

This quick little marriage/honeymoon montage is a good example of RKO editing. It's excellent. So much information in just a matter of a couple seconds.

I suppose since they went public and got married, she didn't have to give the hat to the Salvation Army.

This quick little marriage/honeymoon montage is a good example of RKO editing. It's excellent. So much information in just a matter of a couple seconds. Today's filmmakers would have spent ten minutes on the marriage ceremony, dragging it out. Then another ten minutes on the honeymoon/ship scenes.

"Father and the new postmaster general are old cronies."
I love how she is helping him become more successful as a businessman.

Some very good fluid tracking shots of the sisters going upstairs to Joan's bedroom.

Sure there is.
